After weeks of almost unbearable waiting, Nate Steele of Bamabows contacted me to let me know my bow was ready to ship. Unfortunately, it arrived the day after I left for a week vacation.
But, I finally got home yesterday and ran in the house to unpack her. She's pretty. This is my first serious endeavor into the traditional world, but I know enough to know that this is a great bow.
The specs:
Bamabow "Hunter" model, curly maple riser and accents, bamboo and glass lams, 66" AMO, 53# @ 28".

Despite the 106 degree heat yesterday, I, of course, had to go out and shoot it. Untuned, it was flinging darts. Once I get as good as the bow, the deer will be leaping into my freezer. :bigsmyl:
In summary, I'm very pleased with the bow. Nate made exactly what I wanted. I'm a simple guy and I wanted my bow to match. I didn't get crazy with a lot of different woods, but I really love how this turned out. The arrows and quiver I made myself.
Congrats on your new bow! Very nice arrows and quiver also.
Congrats. That's one beautiful bow. I think I'm about to fall off the wagon ... AGAIN!
Can I see a picture of the bow unstrung?
You have a very nice set-up there. Nate is great to work with. I was in his shop two weeks ago and between that and seeing the new Bamas showing up in threads has got me planning my next build. Let us know how your season goes this fall and enjoy your new bow.
Nice looking bow!

Yep. This is the best I could do. It's hard to get a good close up of something as long as a longbow.

That's what I needed to see eminart. Thanks!
BTW, BEAUTIFUL bow! :clapper: :clapper: :clapper:
If it shoots as good as it looks you will be very happy.
Beautiful, and I am glad it's everything you wanted. Mates stained curly maple is unmatched In beauty. And those specs are great.
VERY nice..............great picture of your equiptment too............enjoy!!!! :clapper:
Very nice. Congrats on the new gear.
Nice bow
Beautiful bow, I have had 2 of Nates bows, and one in the mail on the way, and they were both shooters.
He does great work.
This is a real nice bow.
Enjoy
Thanks everyone. Today, I've been going out and shooting a few arrows every now and then. I'm trying to get my form down before I put too much effort into tuning. The arrows seem to be flying very well though, so hopefully I won't need to do much fine tuning.
Tremendous bow you have there! Nothing like curly maple!
Well Done Scott! She's a beauty. I've gotta say, for a guy that is just getting into Trad Archery, you sure do have some excellent gear! I like that quiver, nice work.
Congrats on the bow. I just got home from the range, guess what I was shooting today? Yes, a Bama Hunter.
The bow is very nice, but those arrows are awesome looking!
Very nice , thanks for sharing. :clapper:

I have my beautiful and wonderful wife to thank for the bow. I caught the traditional bug a while back and she got me this for Father's Day. I'm a lucky man.

Thanks! I'm 35 and I got my first real bow (Pearson compound) when I was eight. I've been fletching arrows almost that long. But, this was my first attempt at splicing feathers. They turned out fairly well, but it was a learning experience, and I think I'll do the colors a little differently when I refletch.
Wow! I like the looks of that bow! That curly maple is awesome! You'll have to be careful not to set the bow down when you're hunting, or you won't find it again. By the way, you make a great looking quiver!

The bow is certainly nice. My style too - not ornate or overly fancy. As nice as the bow is, I think I'm more impressed with the home-made quiver and arrows!
Awesome. I just picked up a slightly used Royal Expidition Bamabow and its an incredible shooter! I plan getting a takedown next. Whats the significance of the writing on the limb?

Just a quote that I like from a Cormac McCarthy book. I could bore you all with what it means to me, but I'll spare you.
Looks like a bow made for hunting.
Good luck with her!
Randy
I've got a 2 piece takedown that's 64" and 45# that I picked up in a trade that could be her fraternal twin. Mine has more of a rust colored grip, but other than that very similar. The only thing that I would change is I wish it was a bit longer. My next Bama, will probably be 68" or maybe even 70". The main question is only how long it will be before I convince my wife that I need yet another bow. Good luck with the new set up, looks like you've definately got things going in the right direction.
I like the dark, sinister appearance of that bow. It has hunter/killer written all over it. Congrats!
eminart, that's the most beautiful bow I have ever seen. Understated elegance. The quiver and arrows top it off. (You kinda went crazy on those feathers, though)
Man she's a brute!
Like her alot
The whole package is great...a real looker and no doubt deadly...it is indeed simple beauty.

Classy looking stick!!
Nice-looking bow. I've never seen a Ganger brag on getting a "mail order bride" before - but I HAVE noticed a lot of raves for mail order Widows!
Sweet lookin' bow there! Great pics, really like those arrows. Nice.
Eric
Been shooting it several times a day. I'm still inconsistent, but I have moments of brilliance where it all clicks. Re-learned a lesson from my compound days - Don't shoot too many arrows at the same dot. It gets expensive.

Scott, that was a good shot! How far away were you?

Twenty yards. It would have been a good shot if both arrows had been in the center of the dot. ;)
