I was lucky enough to win the bid on the St. Judes auction this year for a Bow build my Chad Holm. I got a PM this mourning that the bow has been glued up. Chad is off to the Longbow Safari in Idaho and will finish it up when he gets back. I'm having him build me something really different this time. A 64" longbow, black glass on the back, gray glass on the belly, bubinga riser and it will be a dual shelf so I can go with either hand. It will have overlays front and rear with matching tips and will be 43# @ 29". This is gonna be really neat!!
:clapper:
Post lots of pics of the process if you can.
Can't wait to see that gray glass belly. Dual shelves? I can't shoot well with one, 2 would be MORE than twice as bad.
I have wanted to try left hand for a while.....I'm left eye dominate and have shot right handed for a long, long Time. So, this will be chance to have it both ways at a low poundage to work my way into it! And for those shots on the 3/D range that you could do better if you were the other hand, I can give it a go!
Sounds like a good idea Ron.
I should have it for the Muzzy....,you can try it out Jim!!
Ron, If Chad emails you pics, let me know. I will git em up!
Cant wait to try it.
I heard the grip on this bow will be very likeable!
Chad's bows look, feel and shoot the way bows are supposed to!
Put simply, that man simply has it flat figured out.
I just picked up one of Chad's longbows at the Rapids archery shoot. I got a 64" Goshawk that is 46# @ 28". This is the first longbow I have had since I was a kid and I already shoot it better than my recurve. Chad builds a very nice bow.
Ben
I have a recurve and a longbow by Chad.....when he offered the bow on the auction ....I could not resist....lol!
Sounds pretty cool.
Got news from Chad, my bow is done and will be here soon. When it comes I'll get some pics taken to show Chad's handy work on this dual shelf longbow.....I'm excited! :jumper: :jumper: Can't wait to shoot it, right and left handed!
This is your year Ron!

Thanks Ken, this bow is a real Gem. Great cast, smooth to full draw and it just loves my 50-55 cedars. I even had a few good arrows left handed, and having shoot righty for over 40 years that's really something. Again my hats off the Chad Holm's ability to craft a real fine bow!
That's a beauty Ron.
Glad it made it. This is the first dual shelf I built. Even though it is a relatively light weigh bow I really beefed up the riser. I used bubinga for it's toughness and put a 1/4" fiberglass "I beam" though it. I also overlayed the sight window with multiple layers of figerglass. I think it turned out alright. Good luck ya ol switch hitter. Shoot something with it now. Chad
Ron thats a keeper congrats.
I got this to try left handed shooting being left eye dominate. Wanted to have a bow light in poundage to shoot 3-D and stumps for a long time. As I get older I find I can cope with lower weight much better and can keep my target panic at bay! Really had no intentions of hunting with it. After shooting it for a few sessions I can see I was wrong in my thought process. I may have to take it to the woods and see if we can get a shot! We shall see!!
Ron,
That looks like a keeper. Beautiful bow!!!
Regards,
Grouse
Wowser of a bow!
Goshawk. Accipiter gentilis.
How fitting!
Killdeer :clapper:
Wow Ron, that's one SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEET Bow!
nice looking bow!!!
Thanks......you ought to shoot it.....amazing! Like ADK ken said, Chad knocked it out of the park....and this was his first dual shelf!
Been working on the lefty side of things.....coming along slowly but making some progress. Really a different learning experience. Keeping things close,10-15 yards.
I had the switch hitter out again today......this bow continues to amaze me. If anyone wants a longbow that is smooth and forgiving you need to give Chad a call.
Took my new bow to it's first 3/D last Sunday. I'm really pleased on how things turned out. I shot pretty good and the bow performed very well. Smooth silent with good cast....it's looking like a keeper!
That's one fine looking bow, glad to hear she shoots as well as she looks.
I got this back to the top to show what you can get by participating in the auction. Support this wonderful cause and help out the kids....... :notworthy:
Outstanding Ron!
