Title: Hoyt TD Questions
Post by: Ron Nepini on June 29, 2012, 11:55:00 AM
I picked up a Hoyt Excell riser 21" and a pair of Hoyt Kinetic carbon limbs 36 shorts. I'm trying to find out what the poundage would be at a 28" draw and what the bow length would be. It came with a 57 1/2" string, i would guess the bow would would be about 62" nwith a weight of about 45lbs but i'm not sure. Any ideas?????
Thanks
Ron

21" Excel with short limbs will be 58". 36# will be about 40-42lbs. I have that exact set up except limbs are not Hoyt.

I think a 21" riser with shorts would be 62".  At least that's what my 21" Excel with short limbs comes out as. YMMV.

I have to agree with bpjon, a 21 inch Excel with shorts will make a 62 inch bow. The Hoyt manual that came with my 21 inch Excel says this combo requires a 59 inch string and should brace at 8 - 8 1/2 inches.

I have been ordering my flemish D-10 strings for recurve limbs 3 1/2 inches shorter than length and they have been plenty long for minimum bh on my 21 inch Excel. Try Oliverstacy in the classifieds if you need a new string, his are the only ones I will use on my bows.
