Ok i have some 500 beaman bowhunters cut 28 bop 225 gn point with standard insert. How mich shorter would I need to cut the shaft to use the same point and a 100 gn insert from 3 rivers. BTW i draw 25.5 in.
Thanks.
1/2 - 3/4 might get you there but i would cut them a little say a 1/4 and try them then cut some more. If that is not possible I would go 1/2 and leave room to cut again to tune if needed. Drew
26.5" with the 100gr. would be just a hair weaker.
with the 50gr. insert 27.5" would be close also. I would go with the 50gr. IMO.
That is if they are tuned perfectly now. No substitute for experimentation with all the variables involved.

I find that carbons when cut shorter then 28" really stiffen up.I would pull the insert and try putting in the 100 gr. insert with your point weight and shoot one before cutting.Alot will depend on how your riser is cut.I bought some used carbons years ago that were 1" past my draw and showing alittle stiff. So I thought I could add more front end weight to weaken the spine. But the more weight I added the worse they got. They were showing even stiffer. They were bouncing off the riser instead of flexing around it.Carbons recover so much faster then other arrow materials.I would try it first before any cutting of the shaft.
