I'm in the middle of making 2 dozen of these....Ray Lyon gave me the recipe for and "All Hardware Store" arrow.
Outstanding Surewood Shafts from Braveheart Archery (I didn't hardly have to straighten any of them), MinWax stain front and back, with Sharpie cresting, and a wiped on (4 times) MinWax Urethane sealer....steel wooled after each coat. They are flat, dull, and not shiny at all. I think this may be my "official pattern".... ;)
The critters will be lineing up to get shot with those arrows, very nice.
Thanks. The pics don't show it well, but the front 1/2 are a chestnut brown, the back end are a golden oak. Kinda subtle, but I think they are pretty.
Heres mine, just meat and potatoes, but they fly true and consistent, cant ask for more than that. (http://%20 [/IMG]
By the way, great looking shafts Roger, wish I still had that kind of patience.
Nothing wrong with meat/potatoe arrows Moleman. I shoot carbon a lot!
I'll be shooting some 7595 gold tip traditonals. Still trying to get them to fly just right. I think I finally hit the magic point weight today with 250 grains plus 100 grain brass inserts. For a total of 750 grains. :goldtooth:

Since I did not get even one shot last year, my 2012 arrows are the same as my 2011. :(

I'm on snags waiting list for some new ones!!!!
Surewood 11/32 80/85 640 gns with Abowyer Brown Bear.

I'll be using these footed beauties - they used to be some real ugly, battered arrows I had laying around until Matt Gundock (Magnus) was kind enough (as it was more work than building new ones!) to take them on and refinish them for me!
They fly like darts out of this 62 Kodiak - and they hit like a sledge hammer too!

Killdeer :)
Darn nice Killy!
Killy, what is the design between the crests?
Is it painted on, decal, wrap.........?
Will
That is hand painted. Kind of a fake Persian script/floral effect.
Killdeer :dunno:
Thanks Roger.
Full length trueflights from nocking point.
T-hawk profile lil-chopper from nocking point.
Then I painted the black pattern with some dye I made up.
I like yours too.
I almost went with using white and red.
I like the simple crest.
Some arrows just get too fancy in my opinion.
Just thought I'd try something different with the green...not quite sold on it yet..lol
..but they fly nice, and that helps me like em..
Killy, very unique. I'm going with a yellow theme with my next set..........albeit much simpler.
There are some beautiful arrows shown here.....mine don't quite measure up in the looks dept. I have AD Trad Lites, 35/55 GT's and 55/75 GT's. These all shoot the same out of my 55# MOAB inside 20yds, so any number of them will be used this year. Most likely though It'll be the AD's, which are the dark shafts in the pic. I might end up fletching some of them with pink, I sure like it when it comes to visibility.

Simple and effective for me this year.

Nothing wrong with Simple My Friend!
Mr. Lamb, your quiver in the center looks exactly like mine after last years squirrel season! Small price to pay for a few squirrels and the enjoyment of trying to get them. Chasing tree rats are one of my favorite kinds of fun :campfire:
Just finished fletching some, nothing fancy here

Great stuff here!

Hmmm, I hope there was squirrel pot pie on the menu last year Charlie. Either that, or you best train your squirrels to jump in front of your arrows in a more effective fashion. ;)
Nice work Roger. It's fun stuff making up arrows out of wood. It's good for the soul.
Ray... there were a few that zigged when they should have zagged. :D

Here are my 2012 arrows. Snag put a 10" taper on the back and did the staining/cresting. All I did was chop some feathers and fletch them. I shot a bear this spring with one, antelope are next, I hope. Oh, they are PO cedars.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANG that's some purty arras !!!!
Not very artsy but I'll have a hard time loosing them!

Shedrock, I noticed those arrows in another hunting post. They looked like a wavy-edged leaf in the woods. Very nice!
Killdeer
Kind of plain (Like me) but they work real good with my Abowyers up front :)

Just finished up a few more of those meat and potato arrows, Douglas Fir, nothing fancy but great shooters none the less. With Hill broadheads leading the way, im good to go. These are my arrows for 2012. My good buddy Dave (DirtyBird) made these for me and crested them with copperhead skins.
And some solid black cedars I threw together for hunting out of the double bull this year. Shafts from Magnus.

Nice looking stuff fellas.

Here are the arrows I started this thread with, all 2 dozen complete. Finished last night....it was a time consuming process with just 1 fletching jig.
Very nice, Im building a dozen right now. Surewood shafts from Snag. I think these are gonna be plain Jane but with the quality of the shafting they will be deadly.
Been building arrows for other folks, so I decided to build myself some new arrows for this fall.
