A guy in our trad. archery club talked me into making these up for his trip to NALS. I told him these are nicer than the arrows I shoot! I put a 10" back taper on them and used a red oak stain for the crown.
... ...
Those are pretty! Butt spliced?
Sorry. Didn't mean to get personal. :o
Killdeer :bigsmyl:
Awesome looking arrows!
Super nice David. I like em.

lol..
I think they're membrane spliced.
If my old eyes don't deceive me, I see some bar dye on the bases under the white.
Very good looking arrows Snag.
Great job David. Those are real winners.
Wish I had that talent to splice like that, one day.
Beautiful work sir.
Outstanding arrows. I just might have to go back to wood. It has only been 45 years.
Those are beautiful  :clapper:
Very nice!
Oh boy,them are purdy!
Very nice job snag! :archer2:
Thanks, sure wish it didn't take so long to splice feathers. I love the way they look. Just don't have the time to do a lot of it.
I do the membrane splicing. Just never liked the results of the butt splicing.
I agree with you Snag.
A good membrane splice just plain looks better than a good butt splice.
Nice looking job on those!
Hmmmm look like potential buffalo arrows to me...
Nice....I would be afraid to shoot 'em......but they are nice!

Oh heck, shoot 'em....I'll make more! :biglaugh:
Huntnmuleys, did you draw a buffalo tag?!
Those are stunning! What is a membrane splice? I've only done butt splices.
I've only done membrane splices. Doing some now, but was hoping that maybe butt splices could look as good as those shown here. Back to sanding quill...
Killdeer
A very clean look. They are beautiful, I like them. Nice work, David. I guess I'm going to have to try splicing real soon.
Sweet! Beautiful arrowsmithing indeed.
Nice work! :notworthy:
You guys make too many beautiful arrows....
In a couple weeks I'll post a pic of my newest dozen of "vanilla" arrows....nothing fancy or as nice as yours Snag...but hopefully fly straight.
Real nice....good luck with them....
That almost makes me want to shoot wood! Beautiful David.
Killdeer, no need to sand. Just strip the membrane with the quills attached for the one you are gluing to the feather to be spliced. Then strip the quills w/ membrance off the one to splice. When you glue the stripped piece on you are replacing one membrane for another...it's a beautiful thing!!!
David,
Those are just knock outs ! You have the talent my friend.
Bob
Strong work, sir!
Snag, your work is inspirational.
Beautiful arrows David!
 :notworthy:
Great work David, for the membrane slice do you have to clean the gluing surfaces or do you something differently to glue in
AWESOMEEEE  Some fine looking arrows David :archer2:
Sharp lookin!
Very nice
Nice!
Wow, those are probably the nicest I have seen. I am not sure I could even shoot them.
They look great!
Great looking sticks snag!
Bisch
very well done

I strip the quills with the membrane off and then take a q-tip and lightly wipe the membrane and the surface to glue them to with some Acetone. I don't know if this is really necessary.
WOW....I think those would make my bow jealous! Beautiful.
Looks great David!
Beautiful arrows Snag!
Dave those are nice arrows, but the three I got in Portland are nicer. :D
You get those footed arrows developed yet? I need a dozen for Alaska this fall. Could use another dozen for NALS too. Hint....hint
Dang phone, always double posting with it.
See you at NALS Walt. Got something for you. It's about 6ft. in length.
Still working on the footed shaft project. Been very busy.
Absolutely gorgeous work. Another thing i love about our sport, the unique and personal flavor we can add to our gear.
Beautiful arrows. :clapper:
Nice work Snag  they are some real looker's.
Very nice!
Good job!
David, those are so beautiful, almost hate to see them take flight off the shelf. You are really producing some incredible work, I am envious. Looking forward to seeing more of your work and getting to try some, all the best to you, Joe
Thanks guys. Just loving making wood arrows!
Joe, I've picked out some mighty nice looking Surewood douglas fir for your arrows. They are "in the works".
Snag. I hope this does not offend you but I'm ripping off your idea! I'm gonna make a few similar to that!
Offend? No way. Have at it. Hope it all works for you. We all get ideas from each other anyway.
