I've been wanting to get into trad archery for a while and came across a 1953 bear kodiak magnum today in good shape for 60 bucks. First question is that a good deal for a bow that old still in good shape? Second, it's a 49# draw I'm assuming at 28 inch draw. Since that's my draw length what carbon arrow setup should I use with this bow? Thanks in advance for the help!
Ty, The K mag is a 60's -70's model. Don't be confused by the Canadian Patent date of 1953. $60 is a good price for it if in good shape and not twisted. It is a 52" bow and short bows CAN be hard to learn with.
All that said, grab some .500 spine shafts/arrows and have at it. Those short recurves aren't the best to start with and 49# may be a higher draw weight than you might want to start with but it will get you shooting relatively inexpensively.
Welcome!!!

what he said :readit:
I would pick it up if in good shape and I had the money, could be trading material if it doesn't work for you.
Alright thank you for the advice! The bow isn't twisted or warped in any way so hopefully it will be a good beginner bow for me. Does it matter how heavy of a field point I use with it?
Just start with whatever you have. 125's or 145's will be fine for point weight. Do not worry about arrow flight or tuning until you can shoot these into good groups. Too many beginners get frustrated trying to read and follow all the tuning information before they can shoot decently.
X 2 what Moebow has already said.
Aight sounds good. Thank y'all for your time and can't wait to get some arrows and start shooting.
