Could anyone with Elk hunting experience tell me whether or not 9.5 GPP of arrow weight is enough for hunting elk. I'm planning on using a sharp, single bevel, 2 blade broad head, but I've been worried about my arrows not being heavy enough. I don't mind going heavier, but I'm really pleased with how my arrows have been flying recently.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

ok, you will need to post your bow stats for people to give you a good response. What's your draw length, draw weight, actual arrow weight etc...
If your over 50lbs your good to go.
I'm shooting a 53 lb @ 28" Black Widow PLX. My draw is 28.5
Arrow weight is 524 so about 9.88 GPP

Yes pick a spot. The right spot and you will be fine. A great shot will put the animal down. Remember elk lungs are large so stay away from the shoulder. I shot my 1st elk last year with a similar set up. 53 lb at 26 arrow weight almost the same. Mine was 25 grains or so higher. I made a hell of a shot And the arrow buried up to the feathers. I'd shoot a sharp 2 blade if I were you!! Good luck and don't beat your self up over arrow weight! More is better but your set up can get the job done! If your confident in your shooting then have confidence in the field.
Agreed... That setup should whistle clean through an Elk. Unless you get shoulder, and then you're pretty much F'd even with the latest and greatest in compounded technology.
