I tried dying a few dozen tru-flight feathers using the method from the "how-to" section
http://tradgang.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=2;t=000020
but, most of the feathers curled up pretty bad. Anybody have advice on how to keep them from curling or where I may have gone wrong?
Also, any tips on how to get a nice bright yellow? We died a few yellow for my shooting partner but they came out with a bit of a dirty, dull color. The orange we did with the same times and process turned out eye popping. Maybe there is a trick to getting a nice yellow?
Thanks,
Rick
I use Kool aid and lay the feathers flat to dry on sreens . 3 containers, wash the feathers with dish soap (a couple drops)& warm water soak for 5 min, then clean water and a table spoon of white vinger and warm water 5 min, then the color heated with a table spoon of white vinger (the more dry and longer you soak the deeper the color , rinse in cold water and then dry flat
