I shoot 3 Under, R.H., usually with a Glove. I thought I might try something New, so this is a L.H. Tab, used upside down recommended by my Local Archery Guru.
Now, I aint exactly the Sharpest Knife in the drawer, I admit it :knothead: , but THIS wear doesnt look "Normal" to me. Has anyone else out there had this "Problem" before?? This was used on a 58# Longbow, shooting 11/32 arrows. Maybe a few more arrows than 150, but not too many more, after I got to looking at the "Damage". ANY Info is Appreciated. :thumbsup:

looks like your putting either equal pressure throughout or close to it , it looks like normal string ware although i have much more then 150 through my black widow tab and it looks better then that
Actually, it slips of the fingers, the string, fairly well. No Hang Ups at realease. It just LOOKS like 5 Miles of Bad Road :eek: a Wee Bit earlier than anything else I have used.
I assumed, here we go :rolleyes: , that it was a better leather than that, since its is a Cavalier "Elite" Tab. I have used hair-on tabs that didnt wear this bad so fast. Kinda' Disappointed because it "feels" right, ya know? Surprisingly, for as bad as it looks, its almost Silent! :dunno:
I have had the same problem with the super leather on that tab, but after thousands of shots, not 150. I now use the cordivan leather. Don't think it will wear out in my lifetime.

I agree that is too much wear for that number of shots. How is your release? If you are opening your fingers and letting the string slide off that would account for the wear. Using a release technique where your relax your fingers so the string pushes them out of the way will reduce the wear and I suspect stop the "burn" you might be feeling in your finger tips. Just a thought.
You can order a replacement for that worm leather, and like above, I'd recommend the cordovan. I have cordovan tabs that are 40 years old and still going strong. By the way, cordovan does best with benign neglect. Do not "oil," "grease," or "powder" the leather. Just keep it clean and dry and it will last forever.
Is that the cordovan tab cause it don't look like it compared to mine. I have shot the same tab for thousands of shots and years of service with little wear. Could someone have changed the leather or put it on backwards ?
I've used this Cordovan leather tab for years and 1000's of shots...it's almost like new still. Do you still get a smooth release with it scuffed up like that?

My release is to keep pulling through the shot, letting the string slip off the tab/fingers while relaxing my fingers. Does that make sense? The Leather is Right side up, the other side is suede lookin'. I wonder about the Age of the Tab? The Package isnt too "Sparkly" if ya know what I mean.
Surprisingly Smooth! Doesnt make any sense, but its a Nice smooth release, no Snap off the Fingers like a worn out tab will do ya. The Tab and I have an Appointment back at the Shop of my Local Guru Today.
Update: My friend, and Local Archery Guru is going to Replace the tab. Sometimes its nice to be able to buy Local.
