Title: wear on arrow rest
Post by: Flying Dutchman on June 16, 2012, 02:11:00 AM
Does wear on your arrow rest mean you are overspined? Or is it just normal?

Normal.  Friction=Wear

I started shooting carbon arrows and I have the impression they make more wear.

Well, it can be a bit more complicated than that -- but not too much. Wear on the edge of the rest on the outside of the shelf indicates that there is contact as the shaft is leaving the bow, and that is generally a spine problem.

On the other hand, a little wear on the shelf and plate from drawing the arrow back is pretty normal. The slicker the finish on the arrow, the longer it takes for wear to show up.

My 2 cents worth.
