Title: The Setup To Capture My Lifelong Dream
Post by: huskyarcher on June 12, 2012, 05:03:00 PM
Well fellas ive got the hard part over with. I got my buddy from PA Kegan McCabe to build me a few selfbowslast year. My favorite of which is a 58" #53 hickory beauty.

Well last season i shot some (cover your ears) carbons out of it....(no i didnt get struck by lightning) I missed 2 does with it and a coon, and had a hoot with it, regardless that blood wasnt drawn (other than a rabbit)

Well my father and I have always built arrows out of Dowwell rods, playing mostly, but this year we both vowed to try to kill a deer with one of our "creations"

We have both made 4, all the same.

Kegan made my dad a selfbow too, out of the same wood as he made my bow. There sisters of a sort.

I have always dreamed of killing a deer with an arrow of my making. 'Primitive style' if you will.

Here they are, red oak dowells, cut to 28", Turkey fletching from a bird I killed, wrapped with sinew from a deer that fell to my recurve.

i finished them with a Minwax finish, and a little super glue for good measure.

Also my favorite bible verse inscribed.

Hope you enjoy!! i sure will! come on fall!!!!

A couple had the blue scraped where i had worked these shafts before.

Let me tell you they slam the target, i have no worries about penetration. (i plan on a less than 12yd shot.)

Had a really good time building hope you enjoy!

Very nice!
Please tell me you will be making a back quiver to carry those arrows(and not a bow quiver on a self-bow,lol).
Just messing with you Dalton, do whatever you want, man.
I've always liked blue feathers or cresting, it shows up great in the woods.
Good luck with the set-up.
