Title: New to the house bow and stumping partner.....
Post by: ron w on June 11, 2012, 05:03:00 PM
Was lucky to pick up a 76 Kodiak Hunter from 450Marlin here on the classifieds. At 35#'s I got it for my wife to try. With a 25" draw I thought this would be a fair place to start her out. Well the bow came today, and it is a beauty. I got checking it out and it's marked a bit low...it's 38# @ 28". I had the wife try it out and she did well from about 12 yards. She wants to try a 3/D but I told her that's OK but I really want you to go stumping and maybe take a picnic lunch.  She said that sounds great..... I'm a lucky fella!!

Ya know it's funny, I have tried to get her to shoot for 25 years and all of a sudden she wants to. Been married for 35 years....I guess good things come to those who wait....lol! I know I'm not crazy enough to wager with her on a shot   :saywhat:   ....she'll most likely kick my butt!

There's nothing better than shooting with the family.  It sounds like you'll be sharing some more stumpin' walks in the future.

That's awesome Ron.  Maybe Becka will want to come more frequently.

I know you dont want to wager but I will be placing one with Thorny behind your back   ;) .  Just to keep things fair I wont tell you which way I am leaning... dont want to get all inside your head     :readit:    :biglaugh:

Hey Charlie,
I'm not betting against a woman that can keep him on the straight and narrows for 35 years.

Ron: Bring her to the Muzzy. Nothing to loose and she'll meet lots of women who shoot. She'll have a blast.

Went camping this weekend up to Saranac lake. Went with some friend to fish and just enjoy. They are new to archery and wanted to learn to stump. So I take m Zipper and my Crooked Stick for my wife. We all had a great time. But my wife with only 10 days of shooting under her belt did fantastic. I stared her out at short ranges....10-15 yards....moved up slowly and at the end of the weekend she would match me on half the shots out to 25 yards. The best one....I shot thru a piece Birch bark at about 18 yards and my rubber blunt put a perfect hole in it.....the wife steps up an takes a shot.........right thru the same hole. The best part....she had fun doing it!   ;)
