Hello gang,
I'm looking to try some woodies out and I like the looks of the Barta arrows and have read a majority of good reviews on the website and was wondering if anyone had experience with them. I don't want to drop a ton of money yet on woodies and I always believe in buying middle of the road. To cheap and no performance and too expensive you seem to start getting into buying the prettiness of things. I am looking for a simple fletch , no need for art like cresting good shooters. I can get a doz to my door for about 105 after I buy points.
Do you like them, hate them?
If it were me, I'd get a hold of Rick (The feathered shaft), Snag (wilderness arrows), Matt (Magnus_Turkey flight traditional). They will build you a basic dozen for the same money and YOU WILL KNOW they are made right.

I am partial to Suzanne St. Charles at Northwest Archery when it come to wood arrows. Can't find a more experienced person in the art of arrow making.
I wouldn't even consider those Barta arrows. Way too costly to have his name added to them. They aren't even weight matched.
You can easily get a better arrow for either less money or the same.

I bought a doz. Barta Arrows for my HH bow. I've paid more, and I've paid less for woodies, but the Barta arrows seem just fine for me. They shoot well, and I've paid more for lesser quality arrows. JMO.

David Lawson for sure. Being a competition shooter I have had the chance to shoot and try different Arrowmakers.David's Arrow are as good as they come. I am currently shooting his Arrows so check him ouy
I would suggest as others here have..
Buy from one of the TG sponsors first....
You will get better for less and help out a fellow TG'er....

Smart advise right there.
Not worth the money...too many good sponsors here that will make you quality arrows matched in weight and spine.
Just to clarify, 3Rivers is a sponsor here too, but as said above, there's some custom arrows here to be had for a similar price.
Make them yourself. buy a JoJan left wing jig., A taper tool. This will last you a life time. Get your shafts, nocks, points and feathers. fletch tite glue and low heat glue stick, sand paper and steel wool. More rewarding and cheaper. If you have an arrow already fletched take it and put it in the jig, after you loosen the screws. Now you can copy your fletching on your arrow. Just put the jig over your feathers. tighten screws back up. Your ready to glue on feathers. There is your cheap arrows.
Mike at The Nocking Point makes very nice arrows for a reasonable price...
Another vote for snag, he built me a set of surewoods for about the same price as those Barta arrows and they are not only beautiful but shoot as good as they look.

Hes not asking who makes the best arrow.He's looking for info on the Barta arrows.

And we're just tellin him where he can get more arrow for the same $$.

I don't know about the Barta arrows (never shot them), but that price seems about 25% higher than the going rate for a basic, no frills, quality wood arrow. If I were you I'd look into some other arrows.
I love Tred Barta, but I doubt he really NEEDS your money.

I make my own.And I have for years.I buy all my arrow making stuff from 3Rivers,BraveHeart and a few others.
I use to buy my arrows from 3Rivers.They make a nice arrow.I don't know why someone would say they aren't made right.
Thank you all very much. I do have a fletcher and taper tool, I guess I figured it didnt save that much. I'll look into making my own I guess. I just was thinking a good set to start with and I could follow the lead making my own
I have used the Barta arrows and I have to say even though they aren't weight matched they shoot great. I have killed quite a few critters with the Barta arrows.
Did you notice any flight difference in the low and high end of the arrows pertaining to weight?
