I have an old ball cap style hat that has been with me on a many of hunts but I own many hunting style hats, so many that my wife of 33 years has warned me that if I bring another hat in the house, she is giong to have a huge yard sale..... :campfire:
My favorite bowhunting hat for warm weather is a cotton camo bucket hat. For cold weather I have a predator camo fleece cap.
Filson Packer or a plain ole bucket hat. When it's really cold, a stocking cap.
Stetson Open Road w/custom trim over 3 decades.

Camo boonie.
I like a good old watch cap(stocking). Anything with a brim gets in the way of my three under and longer recurves.
Boonie hat or Fratzke bucket hat for mild weather. Wool watch cap for cold weather, sometimes two of them.
Boonie tan
Irish driving cap! Wool for the winter, and cotton for the summer.
Beanie without a bill.
Even short-billed hats are touched by my bowstring and I can't stand to feel that when I draw. I wear a Sitka Gear, very think beanie when hunting.
Man, I have a lot of hats! I guess my "go to" hat is also a Filson packer though.
In cooler weather, I love my Stormy Kromer!
Camo boonie with burlap sewn on .
boonie camo too.
I have a lot of hats, too.
Getting ready to make my version of the "salad" hat with an LL Bean Goretex boonie as the base.
1 hunting hat. BIG Jims short brimmed cap with the wire in the brim to "flip" it up when i shoot out of the way of the string. if its cold i put a toboggan over the big jims. cant leave home without it
Just an old camo baseball cap
cotton camo boonie for warm weather and a good watch cap for the cold. Although I bring my wool Art Young out when I get the urge.
Love the quote "trad is 60% mental & 40% mental
Radar cap with and without thinsulate.
Thinking about using a coon skin hat this year.
When its warm I warm either a ball cap of boonie style. If its cold I almost always wear either a beanie or a radar style hat.
Big Jim's short bill for warm weather. Filson rancher's cap or wool watch cap when it is cold. Since I have a stable of hats, these picks can change on short notice. Wish I still had my boonie hat from Uncle Sam, but alas, it is long since gone.
Warm weather, Army surplus camo boonie.
Cold weather, anything I can pull over my big ears, I absolutly hate the cold wind in my ears.
Boonie with a piece of velcro on the bucket/brim to hold it up when I don't want the shade.
I'll second the Stormy Kromer for cool weather.
Last year I was Bass Pro Shop in Sevierville, TN. They had a solid black baseball cap with the mesh back and a short brim. Attached to the front of the cap was a black drop down face cover. Been kicking myself ever since for not buying one to hunt out of a blind.
Ken
In summer I go with a military boonie cover. In the winter its the good ole wotch cap or beanie.
Like others on the thread, I have a few to many hats lol :-)
My favorite hat is my fedora with a soft bill. Lately I have been wearing a camo golf hat. Not sure what the real name of 'em is but they wear them in Ireland and Scotland
Also camo boonie.
Old Boonie hat for sure.
Boonie.
Camo boonie works for me!

Our camp loves the Stormy Kromer.
Hot weather....camo bandana
cold weather...camo stocking cap
I am a Big Boonie Hat fan.
Tilley, until it's really cold. Then a watch cap/stocking cap.
Mostly a Stetson outback style hat. When it gets pretty cold, I'll wear a stocking cap.
For bowhunting an old Jones style cap that I have used since 1975. Lotta Mojo in this cap.

I do not like my bowstring touching my hat brim so I wear a stocking / watch cap.
I love my short brimmed hat with stitching on the front that reads "TRAD BOWHUNTER"
Hand crocheted, wool stocking cap when actually hunting. Anything with a bill, except the hats made ny the Alabama Hat Lady, have proved to be problematic.
A baseball camo hat. Used to wear the Jone's style hats. Still would if I could find them. My last one blew off my head going across Sowden Lake Ont. I had some bowhunter pins on it...sank like a rock !
Wool Fedora or a boonie depending on the conditions.....

I made a Terry style salad hat but I'm not going to show it until it gets blooded. I also have a campaign hat with the brim bent up for string clearance and a redtail hawk feather in the band and a leather stampede string. I'm told I look a few degrees south of sophisticated in it. :goldtooth:
Hats for warm and cold weather. Added a Boonie for this year...

When is hot just a ball cap on backwards. When it's cold a boggin
Filson waxed cotton, Gander mountain bargin bin for $4.25. Spray water proofing on once each summer.
camo boonie hat
Elknailer uses a jones style, backards
Buckets and coup's
boonie style in summer......stocking cap in winter
Don't wear one. In cold weather use a hood from a jacket. I warm weather use a camo or black head band. never could wear any headgear.
Bosalino Traveler or Stetson fedoras for the most part. Wool watch caps if really cold.
I like the Art Young hat from 3R. when the weather is cool. I use the Asat Leafy head mask with the little cloth bill a lot also.
My hats are on the large side so I can slip a wool beanie on when it's cold and still get it over my head.

I love my Natgear boonie, been hunting with it for 8 years now and it still don't make fun of me when i miss.
I have an old floppy boonie thats a greenish brown color that I use.
Not necessarily my favorite, but I found an old camo beret-style hat that works great until I need something that covers my ears. The top of it can be moved around to provide just the right shade in the sun, but if the bowstring hits it, it is so soft that it buckles under the string and I don't even realize it.
Stormy Kromer in the winter and a Big Jim wire brimmed in the early season.
Camo baseball hat turned around to keep the bill out of the way & a short billed waterfowl hat when it's cold.

Wish they still made GOOD Jones caps.
Just got a Brothers of the Bow foldable brim hat! Great hat love it. Shot my best 3d score wearing it. My new lucky hat!
When cool enough a Felt Fedora Crusher. Until then my short brim TG cap.
