The person that started everything for me ,my life,my values and my Traditinal world of Archery ,my father passed away .At 85 he lived a great life and went the way a great person should go peacefully. The memories of all our times and hunts will always be remembered and passed on to his grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
Dad was with me when I shot my first deer ever with a recurve bow in 1973.He will be sadly missed.
Right now all our family has come home in honor of Dad.

I am sorry to hear of your loss Steve. Your family will be in our prayers. May God bless you with peace.
-
A good life like you say he had is not a given, you are fortunate to have had a good relationship with him and have a lot of good memories. I wish you and your family well in your time of loss.
-
As sad as it may feel right now, your dad had a good life. What is sadder is a person who passes and had not had a good life, made a contribution or, worse, died alone. In time good memories will replace the sadness. Keep close to your family and friends and talk a lot about the good stuff. It really helps. God bless.

Sadly a bridge we all must cross.
Great memories are what helps in the troubling times.
Thoughts and prayers to you and your family.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. My father passed away when he was 68 and I was 30. Be thankful for what you had.
Your father will live forever through the values he passed to you and you passed on to your children. They will pass them on to their children and the cycle will repeat.
-
My Dad died at 85 too. It is a loss few of us will ever totally deal with. But I will see him again in another two or three decades (assuming a full life for me too). My thoughts and prayers for you and yours at this time of loss.

Sorry to hear of your loss Steve. It sounds like you will have many memories and stories to pass on about him. The greatest legacy we leave are the values and memories passed to our children.
My Dad passed in 1996 at age 62 - 2 months before retiring from the RR. So many things remind me of him. When I hear a squirrel barking I recall trying to walk in his footsteps as a pre-teen without making noise in the woods. I learned when he passed that he kept newspaper clippings in his wallet about some of my track and professional accomplishments.
So often these past 17 years I've wanted to pick up the phone and share some wild adventure...
I miss him right now.
-
May the Great Spirit give you and yours comfort and help you find His Peace.

I can't express in words my thanks to all my friends here, the support, the friendship and comaraderie is found nowhere else.My Dad would have loved today at our house, everyone making plans and going over all for the upcoming hunting seasons.its the seed he planted in all of us.Dad was a riflehunter first and foremost ,but throughout the years my love for Trad archery dad really took a shine to it .He hunted with me and helped me build recurves in our shop. His enthusiasm and wisdom was always there for me.

My condolences brother.
It is a hard road to walk... one we must all face. It really puts our own short time here into perspective. You will carry an unfillable void the remainder of your days until which time you are reuinited.
You and he were blessed, unlike many, to have that special friendship and kinship. He will never forget you and will be there with you on each hunt... as I'm sure you will be for him.
Prayers and blessings,
Rick
