Title: HELP NEEDED - BW PSA clicking noise
Post by: bowhunterportugal on June 01, 2012, 12:18:00 PM
Hi gang,

Here I go again searching for help.

My PSA does a click when I reach full draw. Changed O-rings, applied wax on holes, bolts are good and tight, tried all brace height's possible and it still makes that click.

I believe you have tried everything I would have. I would call the BW boys and see what they think.

Check the inserts in the riser. Take the limbs off put the bolt in them and move them around. If that insert is moving any that may be your unseen issue.

Maybe you need to add wax or felt to the limb pads themselves.

Add wax to the loops of the string.  I had a bow where I was getting a similar noise and this took care of my problem.

Could be wax near the string loop sticking to the limb when lifting off of the limb at full draw.

Is there any wax build up in the string grooves?

Mike

No wax on grooves. It sounds like a metallic click!

I've notice that my top limb, right beside the bolt hole, touches the riser when I mount it and string the bow. The bottom limb, when mounted, the gap is all equal. The top limb looks a tinny twisted on the thick part where it meets the riser.

I've been talking with Roger Fulton but he always advise me that I must get those bolts good and tight.

I'm using a LRU skinny string. I thought it could be from it but I've tried also with the original and it does it also.

Very occasionally it doesn't click, but in 10 shots it clicks on 9!

Take the limbs off and apply Vaseline to the friction spots (shiny spots) on the mounting feet. No need to use alot if, it's the same issue I had it's a click from friction. The vaseline was applied to my bow 3 years ago and not a problem since.

That sounds a good plan, but let me ask you, doesn't the Vaseline melt with hot weather? Does string wax does the same effect? Portugal is seriously hot this time of year.

Don't worry about the Vaseline going anywhere, with the limbs bolted down it will stay where it needs to. I've had my bow out in 85 to 90 degree summertime heat with no ill effects.

DennyK,

By mounting feet you mean those four methalic "things" (sorry, don't know the name) where the Orings are?

I had the same noise once and changing the o rings fixed it.

I had the same issue with a PSAV...took some plumbers teflon tape and wrapped the limb bolts, then reinstalled them....it not only took away the click but it made the bow shoot quieter....

No, not the pins but putting some on them won't hurt anything, it's the black phelonic base that the limbs sit on top of when mounted on the bow. The teflon tape like Russ said is a good idea, I use string wax on the bolts on my bow but, on mine that isn't where the clicking was coming from.

Thanks, now I got it. I'll try it.
