Title: Sad Letter Today....
Post by: joe skipp on May 29, 2012, 04:33:00 PM
As a long time dealer for James Valley Scents and Lures, I received a letter informing me John Collins, the owner and originator of these fine lures passed away 5 months ago. I knew John had Cancer just didn't know how serious.

The company will still be selling these fine scents. Prayers to the Collins family.....

I'm not much of a scent user, but of all I have tried, doe in heat gland lure has been good to me.

Sorry to hear that.

He was a stand up individual. Years ago I had an issue with shipping from him - called and just told them what had happened - never heard a thing back - even forgot all about it, no biggie amounted to like 4 bucks????

Many many months later I get a phone call from John, said he was cleaning off his desk and found a note with my shipping mishap and my number. He asked if it had ever been fixed and I said no but not thought twice about it, I was still using his stuff anyhow. Well he made it more than right - more than he had too.

Just a long talk with him and he seemed to just be a top shelf dude. I am sorry to hear of his passing, I wish his family condolences and him God's speed.

Met John at Barry's bootcamp a few years ago. Great guy. Had free samples of everything for all of us. Kept us entertained with his hunting trips to Africa. His BBQ sauce is still the best IMHO!

I was able to spend portions of the last 28 days of Big John's life with him.  You could see it on his face and you could hear it in his voice. He knew the end was near.  We both were hoping for a friggin miracle that we knew would likely not come.  WHen it did, I called a mutual good friend, Peter Iacavazzi and told him.  I could barely talk. Peter has lost many hunting heroes, but I could tell this especially bothered him as well.  John was WAY too young. I will miss Big John for the rest of my life and I will cherish every minute I spent with him during his final days alive. Peace my friend.
