Title: ARROW MAKERS

o.k. i got my first dozen shafts(douglas fir)..i want to make some basic arrows...so,what could i use from a hardware store for glueing fletching and sealer...i have a jo-jan fletcher also...i will go over to bi-mart to see if the have any fletching glue for the feathers...any info would be great..john

minwax stain
minwax poly
duco cement
should be available at most hardwares

X2 keep it simple on your first batch, and then dive in to the addiction pool. Good luck and keep us posted.

The above are good.  I would add tung oil and superglue to the list.  The gel super glues are nice, but any will work.

Minwax stain
Truoil
duco cement
latex gloves
0000 steel wool
Stain with the Minwax.  After drying, buff shaft with steel wool.  Put on latex gloves and use fingers to smooth on a thin coat of Truoil.  Let dry overnight.  Buff with steel wool.  Continue for 3 to 4 coats.  Fletch with Duco.  It don't get much easier than that.  It also does a great job.    :thumbsup:

well that sounds pritty easy..i will look at the hardware store...graig yes i have a taper tool..

As you advance in making, these help tremendously.

I have several for various jobs. (poly, paint, water based clear coat, etc...)

Wally world sells Master Coffee for $2 a can. Great lids for the 3.5 reducer.
