I'm not sure if this is in the right forum but I wanted to thank all my "brothers of the bow" for their calls, letters/notes and prayers this last week. It's been overwhelming and heartwarming to say the least. My diagnosis was congestive heart failure/ atrial fibrilation. Causes were a combo of increased blood pressure, pre-diabetic (both of which were already being treated); sleep apnea and some residual scar tissue/heart damage from a head-on collision I was in back in 1966. I'm now on six neds; can't drive or lift 5 lbs. for a couple weeks, etc. But my long term prognosis is good with some life changing adaptations. The good news is Gene now not only has to hang all my treestands but also gut and drag out all my big bucks. Additional to that, we just received word my youngest son Brad and his wife Alicia, who live/work in Australia, blessed us with a brand new 8 lb. 2 oz. grand-daughter named Tenley Aspen yesterday afternoon(their first). So things are looking up. Again, a heart-felt (no pun intended) thank you for all your kind words and best wishes. BW
Glad your on the mend, and Congrats on the Grandaughter!

Glad to hear your doing better. If you and Gene need any help I am willing. I can hold the camera while taking video of Gene's kind willingness to help you with difficult tasks, something that might bring some joy when needed later. Take care!!!
Kenn
Glad to hear that you are feelin better. Listen to what the doctors say for the next couple of months, my dad went through had a similar problem and he is hard headed like the most of us. Well, it almost cost him BIG, Take it easy Barry!!!!
Seems just when you think we have life figured out we get a curve ball to make us stronger. Best wishes to you, your wife and family.

It's good to know that we will be stuck with you for a bit longer bud. Grats on the new adition to the family! Now do your grandpa duty and find the loudest most annoying toys out there.
Hang in there, Barry. Let's hope Gene has a lot of heavy lifting to do this fall.
Good to hear Barry! I'll keep praying for you, Congrats on the new grandchild!!
Soooo glad to hear Barry that things are looking up!!!
Since I think so much of you and Gene and to prevent Gene from having heart problems of his own I will volunteer to hang all your stands, drag and gut all your bucks for you

Good to hear buddy! Your a hero, and an inspiration to us all!!!
If there is anything better for your heart than a new grandchild I don't know what it is. Take care and don't let your brother get into the same situation.
Glad to here it Mr. Barry! Rest well, it's time for Gene to quit slacking.
Made my day!
Thanks for the update.

God's grace and peace, Mudd
Good news indeed, Barry! Get healthy and get after 'em!
Glad to hear the good side of your news, Barry, and thanks for taking the time to let us know. You can see that the care, concern, and prayers came from far and wide!
I'm thinking you may need to hire an apprentice for the stand hanging/gutting/dragging position. After the first dozen or so animals, I could imagine Gene wanting to get in a hunt or two, himself!
Congrats on that baby, and on the progress you've made. Be wise. Get better!
Good to hear Barry! Make sure you give Marvin a call when you get a chance. He's not an internet guy, so he probably won't read this thread. He was pretty concerned last Saturday after he hung up with you at the hospital.
Tim

Gene.. VOLUNTEERING??? HHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAA bw
Glad the prognosis is good, take care, we need at least a couple more books outta you! Congrats on the Grandaughter!
Barry,
I hope you got my flowers- I picked em from the neighbor lady like you taught me.
What you need is a teenager that saw Bowhunting October Whitetails and thinks you are really somebody. He would gladly hang stands, drag deer and probably clean em for you too. As far as your friends are concerned forget it, You milked the broken arm long enough let alone this!
signed,
Biggie

As one with several stents, use this experience as a warning.
I don't want to sound preachy, but if over 40, get a stress test. If you have a bad family history, get one at 35. If you're overweight, lose the weight. If your BP is high, exercise, drop weight, eat better and get the right meds to lower it. Same with cholesterol.
If you have sleep issues, sleep apnea can be a HUGE issue for heart disease. Do a sleep study and if you have apnea, get the CPAP mask.
It's hard to change habits until forced to, but taking the right steps isn't rocket science.
Then, if like me and you have issue's, make sure to stay up to date on checkups.
Good luck and stay healthy!
Glad to hear you will have a full recovery and everything is being treated and taken care of.
And congratulations on the Grandbaby
Congrats on the new grandbaby and thanks for updating us on your condition! We wish you a speedy recovery Barry!!!

Congratulations to the family on the new grand daughter.
Life is a series of lifestyle changes, do them and you will defy gravity. Good huntin this fall.
Glad to hear that things are under control. Congrats on the new addition to the family. Stay with the doctors recommendations so you can enjoy her. Hopefully this will not leave you with a bad memory of Maine.
There's nothing like a new grandchild to recharge your batteries... and another good reason to take care of yourself.
And I'm serious, take care of yourself... our prayers for you can only do so much.
Besides, I have a selfish motive... the traditional bow hunting world just wouldn't be the same without you...
From the north bush country, Ken

Glad to hear you're feeling better, Barry. You should probably also restrict youself to hunting our smaller Wisconsin bucks, so the old ticker doesn't have to work so hard.

You guys are truly one of the greats in our sport your names schould be spoken in the same breath as when speeking of the late great Fred bear, Pope and Young, Howard Hill and others. Barry,
It's good to hear that you're up and getting around. I can just hear Gene now, "Barry, it's the real one coming on!" ;) :biglaugh: The two of you must have been a handful for your parents to raise.
Bill
UB,
Man you are one lucky fellow: You dodged heart attack & gained a grandchild almost at the same
time !!!! We are so glad you did.Might be time to play the Lottery !!
Glad you are doin better, Barry!!
Barry, I was stunned when I first read this. You and Gene are such a big part of all our lives. We sure can't have something like some medical issues get in the way of hunting. I'm so glad you are on the mend and it all looks good. Take good care of yourself and get back in fighting form for the next Pig Gig.
Barry,
You are one of my first influences when it came time to "get trad", through "Bowhunting October Whitetails", your work on Masters of the Barebow. I appreciate your attitude and listen closely to your words. We are all truly Brothers of the Bow, not only by name but through our actions. You, your brother Gene, and so many others have brought something good out in all who have been mentored by you directly or indirectly. We all know that life is finite, but you have steered us in a direction that gives us immeasurable amounts of pleasure AND the desires to help others find the way.
Congrats on extending your family again, 'sgonna be a hell of Family Reunion!!
Best of Luck to you and all!

Barry,
Glad to hear all is on the mend. Congrats on your grandaughter. I'll have some power pickles ready for Denton, hope to see you there.
He must not be too sick, he's still going on his bear hunt next week....but then again, I wouldn't expect anything less from him 8-)
Glad your feeling better. Never met you in person but all archers are "one of the boys" and I hate reading about these types of issues. As my wife nurse will say to you, 'DO WHAT THE DOCTOR TELLS YOU TO DO". There I yelled at you for her. LOL
:clapper: :clapper:
Best News I have read in a Long Time !!! Glad things are turning in your favor.
Gene
Hey!!!.....look what all happens while I'm away...
Glad you are doing better Barry......and do what the Doc says, we don't want Gene draggin YOU out.

Glad you're hunt ready!
While you're sitting in a stand waiting for a big headed bear why don't you start another book. I'm sure it would be well received.
I declare that I am now authorized to speak for all the bow hunters in Colorado and I say, "God bless".
Joe Ashton,DC. Palmer75
