Hi All. I'm working with some 2016's I've got here, setting them up for two of my recurves, 49# and 51#.
If anyone is using 2016's for these draw weights, I'd love to hear how you've got them set up, especially point weight.
Thanks.
I should add: I really like the way 125 up front is flying for me, but 175 (where I'd like to be) is just a whisker weak. Think maybe I should try some 2018's?
I shoot 2016's at that weight with 125 up front
they fly great. I got a pass thru on my last bear with this set up. I think 2018 is too stiff
What's your draw length?
47# @ 29" 60" Schafer Silvertip, full length 2016 with 125 up front. They are working real well with 4" shield cut feathers.
I draw 27" and with bows in that weight I shoot 190 grain interceptors.RC
Thanks guys. I should have added, 28" draw length. Sounds like I'm good to go! Thanks for the confirmation.
I've got a #50@28, I draw 28. I get perfect papertuning with a 30.5" with 145 and at 30" with 175.
I have had good luck with 175 grains up front. 28 1/2" arrow, 45 and 50# bows.
2018s with 200g (BH & Insert) up front would work fine. I shoot 2016s with 200g up front out of 42-44# bows and they fly like darts.
I shoot 2016s at 28in, while drawing 28in, and throw 125grs u front. The fly well, they have killed many, many, animals.
Andrew I hate to jumpin, but I'm shoting my 45lb RER and the 2016's I have are cut to 28 1/2 BOP...
I'm thinking too stiff at my 28" draw at 45lbs.
What is the length of a full length 2016 Legacy these days?
Mine were just over 31 1/2", Gator what do you have for point wieght.
Ron,
I have up to 175 Grain Pt Weight.. I'm thinking 1916's might be better and not have to Load up the front so much.
RC, are you using aluminum or steel adapters with those Interceptors.. If steel what weight?
Gator, try leaving them an inch longer with the same point weight!
I should point out, my 2016's are 29" BOP and I'm drawing 28". I really like the flight I'm getting with 125grains out of the 49-50# recurves. Gonna get some 2018's to see how much point weight I can add...maybe even play with a little more arrow length.
I just recently started playing with aluminum. Had been shooting GT's (which work fine) but I'm really enjoying the feel and flight of aluminum.
I have a 50@28 Bear Takedown, I draw 27.5 and shoot 2016s 3-4 inch feathers, cut to 29.5 with 125 gr heads. Shoot split finger. I shoot the same arrows for my 46@28 Predator Hunter and 45@28 Kodiak Hunter.
im shooting darts out of my NM Huron with 29" 2016 51@28 im drawing 27" 125gr up front. But they fly way way weak from my 56# Superior at 28" even with 100gr up front. It has me baffled too. I think you will be fine with your setup
