Hi there I just got my pronghorn it's a 62" 50# @28" but I draw to 30" so I was thinking it would be around 55# @30" my draw. I want to get some cheap hunting arrows nothing fancy I would prefer wood and was thinking of using the ma3 3 blade broadheads they are 130gr glue on.
What spine should I use ?
Any suggestions on made up arrows eg 3 rivers, kustom king?
I just want something cheap as I do alot of shooting and hunting and don't want to have to make my own. I would consider a cheap carbon that has a wood finish as well. I just want to keep it really simple.
Cheers
I think 70-75 spine should work for you.
Congrats on a fine bow.
Heritage 250's with about 175-200 on the tip cut to about 31-3/4ish would be great.
Sometimes its actually cheaper in the long run buying a mid-level carbon, I think thes will be about 80-90 for a dozen including inserts and knocks.
Beman bowhunters in 340 spine are cheaper at about 50-60 a doz. but no wood grain.
I shoot the same poundage as you do at the same draw.
Always foot your carbons.

Cheers guys I'm really keen to get it tuned up and out and hunting. I have shot a few woodies I have for my hill bow but they are a little stiff but it shoots like a dream. I had no idea how beautiful these pronghorns feel in the hand, they have a real nice wieght to the riser not to light not to heavy. I was thinking around the 70# spine mark in woods would work as my hill arrows are 80 and they r a little stiff. But I've never tried to work it out for wood shafts before and I dont want to get the wrong ones.
If you want to be economical invest in some decent carbons, foot them and they will last forever unless you loose them. There is no such thing as a cheap wooden arrow last time I looked. If they are cheap they probably won't hold up.
Thanks mate I agree that carbons will be the most economical in the long run but I have this funny thing about running carbons though a wood bow LOL but maybe i should give it a go. But I just love wood there's something about it I'm not shore what it is.
If you decide to try carbons, you won't find a better deal than the Gold Tip blems that Big Jim sells. He's a sponsor here on TG. You would likely need the 55/75's with a 125gr. point.
any other input on spine im getting the same vibe as shedrock at around 70# but is anyone else shooting a pronghorn with woodies around this # that could give me a little more piece of mind before i go ordering shafts
cheers
I shoot 65-70 out of my Pronghorn that is 56 @ 28, so you are on target with something around a 70# spine. Enjoy, mate.
cheers mate
I love wooden arrows. They probably cost more in the long run but theres just something about wood that turns me on. I would buy a test pack from Braveheart Archery and you should be able to get just the right spine. They sell Surewood shafts and they are great wooden arrows. Good luck.

I think 70-75 spine should work for you.
Congrats on a fine bow.
The best wood arrows for the least cost will be the ones you make. You are then in control. Graphite have wider spine range, but you can order a mixed set (test arrows)from the sponsors you mentioned.
There are a number of other sponsors including Raptor Archery, Wilderness Custom Arrows, The Feathered Shaft, and Elite Arrows. I apologize for not listing more. You might take a minute to go thru the sponsors and check their websites.
