A friend & I took two of my boys to a sportsman's event. They had an indoor 3-d range set up & kids could shoot free with Michael Waddell. I didn't really know who he was but my friend is his biggest fan! He hosts a hunting show. Anyway here we are at the range with a hundred little kids all with little compounds. My 9 year old with his Bushwacker was feeling out of place until Mr. Waddell made a bee-line for him to see his longbow. He really made over him & the bow. He commented on how well he was shooting which made all these little fans even more jealous. He then asked if he could shoot it. After the first shot he turned to me & said "man that's nice! Did you make this?" I said no it's a Dryad made by these guys in Texas. He kept shooting & once again said "Man this IS nice. Who made it?" I told him & he said "Dry-Who? Man this is nice!" So then everyone wanted to know what it was. My boy had one of those grins that couldn't be any wider & lasted for 3 weeks! To top it off, when Micheal turns and walks a few steps, my 9 year old says, "Who the heck was that guy?" I don't know if he heard or not.
The only reason my boy even has it is because Mike gave me a deal I couldn't refuse at Compton. That's why I love traditional archery. It's all about people.
So thanks Mike & Jason!

I Love Stories like These!! You Go Boys!!!
awsome story
Look at that boys form too  We need to have a Tradgang hunting show. Bowyer interviews, tools and tips, hunts and member videos, rendevous', recipes, etc. Then Mr. Waddel would know Dryad- Who?
That is real cool. Glad he didn't have a 30" draw and have it explode. :scared:
Sounds like it went well though. I think it's the coolest that your son didnt have an idea of who he was. LOL
Thanks for the kind words.
Mike
That is so cool.
Im glad your son is enjoying his bow. That bow needed a good home, and it looks like it has found it.
Thanks for the kind words.
Jason
Hey Mike,
you'll remember this bow was one you made for a contest, I believe, & turned out 30@28". My friend is 6'3" & Michael was taller than him. So I don't know what he draws. Maybe I shouldn't have let him shoot it but it didn't hurt it any.
EVERYONE that shoots this bow absolutely loves it!
Sounds pretty cool. I just finished watching a DVD were he actually went huntin' with a recurve. So who knows you may have just changed that show forever.
TOOOOOOO cool! Love the pic. Mine are 4 and 6. Can only hope they've got that kind of form by 9!
I'll be looking to see if Michael uses a Dryad in upcoming episodes. That would be awesome for Mike and Jason, a little bit of free publicity. Great job guys.
Dakota Tim, a big thumbs to your son, even at a young age he's proving to be a great diplomat for our sport.
So Mike and Jason, what IS your advertizing budget? :) Maybe you could get him to do a traditional road trip with you guys and you could show him just how a grouse hunt breaks out when you're "suppose" to be hunting elk. LOL
PS - It was great talking to you two at Denton.

I doubt it... as these *Shows* are actually Showcases of the sponsors products... Long Gone are the days of good fellas just having fun sharing the outdoors and bringing a lil education to boot...
Its Advert City!!!
Fantastic story Dakota Tim! Where was that shoot?
Michael is actually a nice guy. He gets a little excited when deer come around though LOL! He's always been a die hard Hoyt compound guy but I would be willing to bet that he's looking for a new challenge after all the years of shooting big deer after big deer.
Ive seen him hunting with curves like the Tiburon. And another big TV guy from the team Primos shoots a Widow.Cool story, now your son sees he can be "COOL" without all the gadgets on his bow.Trad is still gaining lots of fans.
WOW! What an awesome story! Go Team Dryad!!!! We'll be watchig for the Dryad Bows Roadtrip...
Great story, I bet that is something your boy will remember all his life. Nice lookin bow too!
BTW I like Micheal Waddell, he seems like a good guy, even if hes not generally a trad shooter. He might just end up switchin to trad, at least for his own use.
