I bugged several people via phone and PM about the Toelke Lynx. Everyone was very helpful and gave the bow outstanding reviews. So...I just couldn't help myself. I sold one of my Whips and ordered a Lynx.
I spoke with Dan last week and he asked me to hold off on ordering because he had some new wood coming in this week. I'd told him I wanted a dark bow, and his wheels started turning. He sent me an email Tuesday with pics of the wood and then followed up with a phone call. I felt very good about placing my order so I did.
He then sent me a quick message on Wednesday that the limb veneers came out very dark and highly figured (zebrawood).
Today, he calls and tells me this is some of the best zebra he's seen and thinks I'm going to be really impressed. PLUS, the bow will ship out a week from today (Thursday). Man, you just can't beat this service.
So...the complete order looks like this:
Toelke Lynx with 60" recurve limbs scaled to 47@29. Limb veneers are zebrawood and riser is black micarta and bocote. He's even serving the string to fit my current arrow nocks.
I'll definitely be posting pics when she arrives.
You have made an excellent choice!
Excellent choice indeed!
:bigsmyl:
I love mine! Outstanding craftsmanship! Post lots of pics!
I love mine too as you know. I talked to Dan yesterday and told him to be waiting for a call from a Texan who is hot to go for a Lynx...looks like I was right. LOL. Make sure you post some pictures.
Forgot to mention.....Dan said he's got enough of this zebrawood for about 10 more bows. Just in case somebody is interested.
I'm a huge fan of the 60" limbs....so smooth!

Yeah, i drooled over the pics of yours you posted a while back
Congrats, Jeff. I know this will be a looker and shooter. I'm with you...You cannot beat Dan's service. I ordered a new Whip last fall and had it within 10 days. Please post pics when it arrives.
Congrats!
You'll love it. I'm one of the people that you pm'ed regarding my impression of the Toelke Lynx and as you know, I love it. Mine's the 58" and is extremely smooth and quiet. I can only imagine the 60" is smoother yet.
Oh boy, I may have to make the hour drive to Dan's shop and shoot a 60"! :dunno:

You should go quick and shoot mine then report back to me :)
And I definitely appreciated your feedback!
Best of luck Jeff. You made a great choice and the 60" limbs are getting some buttery reviews.
Bow I have the most regret of ever posting in Classifieds. By far... :(
Take care of her Travis! I want first right of refusal!

I got the Lynx with both the recurve and longbow limbs, it is a very easy shooting bow. I just put on the longbow limbs a few weeks ago for the summer 3D shoots and getting ready for the fall hunting season. Whoops I was using my cordless skill saw and accidently set it down (unbeknownst to me) on one of the limbs while the blade was still spinning and cut it bad. I didn't know it untill a few days later,, I sent it in to Dan and he said it was toast, so that was a 400 dollar mistake...oh well live and learn
a nice one to help you in the wait :goldtooth:

What brace height is everyone running, or what is recommended?
He told me low 7s
I run right at 7 1/8" with my 58" recurve limbs.
Hybridbow Hunter,
Dan was telling me about that bow. That looks really nice!
Yes it is really: that western juniper is simply spectacular and Dan's work is really flawless: choice in the veneers and wood, perfect gluing, glass absolutely perfectly clear, wood sanding with a lot of care in details, limb fitting,etc...Everything looks made for a long life.
For me THIS is what makes now the real performance over fps...
Even the strings you get along with the bow (endless) are perfectly made !!
More, I draw 31,5" and bow is smooth all the way and level of performance is good for a classic bow without any "new millennium materials" (foam, multidirectional carbon and all he stuff..)
Outstanding work is my conclusion.

There i go drooling again.
Luckily mine ships end of this week. Oughta make it to my door step in just two weeks from ordering it.
Edit: double post
Congrats, been looking at those too... Need something to go along with my Curlew, and Chinook..... I can't call Dan just to say Hi, often , it invariably costs me too much in The end :)
Should have hit the mail today. I expect I'll get it Tuesday or Wednesday with it being a holiday weekend.
Pics will be posted asap.
Lucky man!!! They're very nice bows... I can't wait for the pictures.

Very nice. Dan does a great job. Now let us know what you think after a few shots.

It's crazy smooth. Can't get over it.
I gota figure out the right brace and arrow combot to get her totally quiet. Have a small "umph" right now. I'm not worried about that, though.
I tried shooting a 545gr arrow and a 565gr arrow and was impressed with the speed. Quite a bit quicker than my Whip.
Hand shock is zero.
I've been shooting all afternoon. If any of you guys have arrow recommendations or brace/nock recommendations, I'm all ears.
My arrows are showing a bit weak. They are kicking up and to the left. I've adjusted the nock point all the way down to 3/8" and the brace down to 7 1/8". I even tried going down to a 100 gr head (have 75 gr inserts and 20 gr aluminum footings). This all seemed to help, but not enough.
I tried building the strike plate out a bit, but it seemed worse.
Total arrow make up is Beman MFX 500 cut to 30.5" with 75 gr insert and 1.5" 20 gr aluminum footing. 3 shield cut 5" (or 5.5") feathers and a 5 gr aluminum nock footing.
Any ideas?
I have mine at 7 3/8 and shoot wood. Very little noise at all. It is as quiet as my Whip HS.
Rick, What spine rating are your wood arrows?
I think it'll take me going stiffer. Thoughts?
50 pounds at 26 inches shooting 45 - 50 pound woodies at 28 inches with 125 grains up front.
Jeff, Dan sent me a Lynx Combo to shoot for a couple of months a year ago, the recurve limbs made a 50 lb. bow at my 29" draw. It wanted very heavily spined arrows, I ended up with Beman MFX 400s 29 3/4" throat of nock to back of point, 100 grain brass insert plus a 50 grain brass insert and a 125 grain field point. As such they were just barely stiff enough. The bow was very fast and very, very quiet.
I forgot to mention brace height was 7 1/8" and nock height was 7/16". Did I say it was quiet?
Jeff,
That is a fantastic looking bow!
My 58" Lynx is 51# @ 28" which is what I draw.
I shoot MFX 500 Classics cut to 29 3/8" valley to back of point.
I have the 75 grain inserts and 150 grain head.
7 1/8 to 7 1/4 brace height. Nock at 1/2".
Fly beautifully.
Again, very nice bow. Love the woods!
Ron
Jeff:
WooHoo!!! Man, what a beauty. Dan is an artist fo sure.
Really making me want to call Dan and tell him to make me another set of limbs with that Zebrawood! If i could decide what poundage i wanted i would.
Might give a SBD string a try, made mine noticably quieter. I'm not a huge fan of Dan's strings though he makes one hell of a bow!
I shoot 28.5 inch MFX 500 arrows with 75 gr insert and 175 - 200 gr heads out of my 52@27 Whip.
What's the centre cut on a lynx?
That is a sweet lookin bow TxAg. Glad to hear you pulled the trigger on it.
Regarding shafts, I'm shooting GT's out of mine.
I'm shooting GT 15-35s with 200 up front for my 48#@29. I shoot 35-55s with 250 up front for my recurve 55@29. Finally I shoot 55-75s with 350 upfront for my 61@29 LB limbs. All shafts are 30 inches (or just shy of it).
GTs seem to shoot stiffer for me. I tuned some Beemans but shot them less consistently out of my Lynx.
My word isn't gospel, so certainly take it with a grain of salt.
Thats some fine looking zebra wood! Lots of good advice on here you will get it dialed in. Good luck with it this year.
I'm shooting cx Heritage 150's, 30.5" long with 200 up front, 53 lbs. @28", I draw 30".
The center cut on a lynx is slightly past center, but not by much.
Very nice looking bow you have there sir!
Thanks for the insight guys. I ordered a half dozen 400s to tinker with.
Ordered a new tolke 56" chinook last week and it has the zebra wood limbs very nice!!!
Beautifull bow, enjoy it !
i shoot mine (58#@ 31", shot at 31,5") with GT trad 75-95 full length, 50 gr long aluminium insert and 250 gr point. I changed the shelf material for a thick leather one but let the window leather plate and switched for an SBD 10 strand string with wool wrap.
that zebra is awesome!

shot some easton st excel 400s today using a standard 20gr insert and 175gr head. 30.5" long totaling 488 gr. they flew much better....i'd like to go heavier, though.
i should be receiving some 200gr and 225gr heads shortly and will give those a go.
bow is currently at 1/2" nock and 7 1/4" brace
WOW that is a absolutely beautiful. Bow
