Just returned from my Nebraska Turkey hunting trip. Had a great time, birds were really working, heard 7 different Gobblers the morning I shot this bird, not 1 hen. Most were on the nest, make a sound sorta like a hen and they come running. Of course they didn't stand a chance with my talented calling ability. :biglaugh: my partners in crime were, Double Bull Dark Horse Blind, Morrison ILF Recurve, Big Jim's 1 1/2" X 300gr. Terminator heads, Zink Hen and Best Turkey Decoy Jake. Most people go early in the season and I do too, but some of the best hunting is late season. Thanks for looking. RW

YES! congrats!
We now have a photo for the BigJim big-3 bradhead kills thread... Looks like it had enough penetration to kill a turkey. Those are some tough birds in NEbraska. Well done.
Congrats on your bird!
Congrats!
Those are the exact decoy's I'm going to get this winter for next spring, and it looks like it works great! Thanks for sharing!

Nice bird. Must be your calling ability! The ones I am chasin around run from my calls :biglaugh: Were you east or west of grand island? I live about an hour north of GI. Lots of birds around but haven't been able to get them close since early April.
Good for you. My son and I got back a few weeks ago. I love it out there. No turkey's were harmed in the making of our memories though. Nice job!

Very good, congrats!
I hunted for a NE bird late April and had rain every day. My turkey luck!
Thanks for all the coments, I'm not sure where Grand Island is, but I was on private property just west of Lexington,NB. Platt river runs just south of I-80. Lots of birds in the area. This bird was a Merrian / Rio cross, wanted a pure bred Merrian, but whoe's gonna complain with a bird like this. He had a 9" beard and 1" spurs for those of you care about such things. Came right in and passed up the hen and went straight to the Jake decoy. My hunting partner and I have had really good luck with the Jake decoy this spring. Had several big Birds just flog it and several more peck at it and strut and display around it. Wont be hunting without one again. RW
Great looking gobbler! Love those decoys!
Congratulations
Glenn
RW - I go to Nebraska every year and ALWAYS have fun. Don't tell anybody, but I'm of the opinion that Nebraska has some of THE BEST turkey hunting in the country right now. Plus, the landowners are very accommodating if you ask nicely and treat them with respect.
We have permission to hunt numerous properties and regularly see flocks with 7-10 toms....sometimes several flocks on the same property.
I help out as a guide with an outdoors ministry that hosts a hunt near Fullerton/Genoa Nebraska (just northeast of where you were hunting). This year we had 12 hunters that took 23 birds. It's just amazing. I was out there scouting 2 days before turkey camp, and took the bird below.
Anyway, Congrats on a very nice bird!

Way to go Roy! Congrats :bigsmyl:
Sounds like it was a great trip, awesome pics and bird. Your right, late is great and I think the birds work better later in the season.
Tracy
Good job on the gobbler!

Hey Roy,
Congrats on your bird? Nebraska eh? Nice!
Hopefully we'll both draw and be heading back to Kansas this fall.
Talk to you later......Tim
Makes me happy to have the entire season to run round with them crazy birds.saw some little chicks in the field this mornin already.
Grats on a fine bird.
Tradhunter, you definitely live in a Turkey rich state. Brian, very nice bird yourself, congrats. Tracy there is no shortage of birds where you live either, I think you just can't do better than Kansas and Nebraska for Turkeys, the Deer hunting aint bad either....RW
Been in Neb. a few times with the wheelie and it was bird-crazy over there. Congrats to you and all me fellow trad turkey nuts!
Congrats! :clapper:
