Title: Greetings from NC
Post by: Widowbender on January 16, 2007, 08:55:00 AM
Just saying hello to everyone   :wavey:   . I've been bowhunting for about 18 years. Back in 1998, I wanted to try traditional archery, so I started shooting a Bear Grizzly. I have some friends who were shooting traditional then and they shot custom bows so I decided to get one. I ordered a Black Widow MAIII "autumn oak" 62" 56lbs. @28"     . I really enjoyed shooting, and hunted with it in '99 (no luck, but a lot of fun). in 2000, family and work obligations greatly reduced my practice time. So I decided to return to the compound. I finally took my first P&Y whitetail in 2005. I knew when I put the recurve away that I would return to it someday. Well, now my oldest son (7yrs) has a bow and we can shoot together. This makes it easier for me to go back to shooting the widow. So I got the bow out of storage and am basically starting all over again to learn to shoot instinctively and setting up a recurve. One advantage I'll have this time around is place to come and ask questions and
share stories   :D   .

Hey wait a minute, Madness522, what's he be doin' with shoes on in the first place  :D  . Just kidding - I can't stand to be barefooted - wear slipper-mocs a lot on these ol' feet though. Welcome aboard. Great place to be with great folks and we got some real good NC reps here. Some already signed on and more will, I'm sure. Hickory and Sissipaha are fantastic places to go.

Hello David, and welcome. You're in a good area for 3-D shooting. If you need somewhere to shoot, in between tournaments you can come over to the shop (Eagle's Flight Archery in Mebane). One of the guys brings his 5-6 year old over to (3-D) hunt. That's big stuff for him.

I also have a pretty good line of traditional archery equipment if you're in need.

Hope to see you at some of the local shoots. As you can see we have a die hard group of dedicated traditional archers in North Carolina. If ever near Greenville, look me up, will fling a few arrows.
John

Thanks for the warm welcome, Folks, hopefully I'll be able to add something of value. I hope to get out soon to some shoots. I used to go to alot of 3-D shoots before I started a family. Now it would be a great way to practice with my son.
