My close by turkeys haven't been cooperating, so this morning I decided to see if a mountain bird would give me a chance. They evidently didn't get the memo, either, so the morning hunt turned into a nice hike/stumpshoot.
The mountain morning was clear and bright after a day of rain yesterday.

The streams are running pretty heavy, and the sound of the rushing water was soothing.

A few stumps got in the way of my arrows; the spring flowers are just starting to show up at this elevation.

Although no birds were seen, it was a morning well spent.
Looks like fun even though you didn't get anything, nice pics to.
The best part of hunting is seeing things others can only imagine. Very beautiful
Great way to spend a day, thanks for sharing the pics with us!!!
Nice pics, Pat. That first photo makes me long to be in the Bighorns again this Fall, but maybe next year...You certainly live in a beautiful part of the West. Good luck with the birds.
Very cool photos! Thanks for sharing them!
Thanks for the photos and story! Makes me want to get out there!
How high up were you Pat?
Don't get any better than that!!
swp,
I started out around 6000', ended up around 7500'. Hiked on a nice forest service trail for a lot of the morning. Not all of it was on a trail, however.
