Hi All,
Thinking about 3 blade glue on 125grn possibilities.
Which is the quieter head...
The 125 grain woodsman elite, or trailmaker?
They're both vented so they both probably make a little noise.
I'm leaning toward the trailmaker...for some unknown reason...
Thanks
The original Woodsman is very quiet. I have killed a fair amount of game with one. I can't comment on the vented Elites but the solid ones are the best 3 blades being made at this time.
you bet!
I really like my 190 VPA's
Just really thinking about going lighter.
I just added the trailmaker head to the list above.
Thanks
Every glue on woodsman i have shot whistled some.. I dont think it matters because the deer ive shot didnt seem to notice..Non vented or blood groove are quiter
is there a non vented blood groove?
I didn't seem them on the 3r site at all.
There is a non vented bloodgroove 125 woodsman out but i just looked and its only screw in..I hope they offer it in glue on soon. The originals are great heads and with a little file work to the inside vents or vasaline you can make them stop whistling.
File work eh?
How's that done?
Do you just round off all the edges?..
Correct. I use a needle file and just round the sharp edges inside the vents.
very interesting
Does it work REALLY good or just improve them a bit?
Thanks!

I have had 2 or 3 out of 12 i couldnt get dead silent.
Awesome man!
That sounds like the real deal!

When it comes to whistling broadheads in flight, another vote for non vented.

I'd LOVE to find a 125 grain glue on non-vented 3 blade...other than the MA..I like to sharpen straight edges.
Lots of good...no GREAT non vented 2 blades out there of course...just want to do a 3 blade I guess.
I have one of each sitting on my desk. I have been watching them now for several minutes and so far, not a peep out of any of them !

anyone else have experience with these?
I have probably killed 10-12 critters with the original Woodsman and Snuffers. I have never worried about the "hiss" they created. I can't say a critter ever got advance notice of the incoming problem from them either. I still shoot them some, but I shoot mostly heavy VPA heads now, primarily because they are so tough.
D.P.
I've killed a couple of whitetails with Trailmakers and I don't hear anything from them in flight. I'm using the glue on 125 version and my wood tapers are perfect. Blood trails are incredible.
I've shot woodsman heads and there is a little hiss or whistle but nothing major.
I have some woodsmans and they hissssss!
Stand down range from a shooter and hear the noise your feathers make going downrange. You'll never worry about broadhead whistling again when you realize your arrows make lots of noise regardless.
when i first got the ww they made a lot of noise because my aarow weren't tuned very well. now that they are tuned i can't say that i notice any noise.
I've had only one Woodsman glue-on 125 gr, out of 18 make noise. Being on straight is the key thing.
But bigbadjon is right: feathers make noise also. I just don't want any more than I have to have.
But vented may produce more than non-vented.
The 125 woodsman is a great head, but it is loud!!! in my setup. I went to a 175 VPA and have not looked back. I think anything non-vented will be quieter than a vented head.
Good Luck!
