Title: Big Foot Goes High Tech
Post by: dragon rider on May 04, 2012, 12:13:00 PM
After discussing it back and forth for a while, Kirk Lavender, of Big Foot Bows, home of the Sasquatch, made me a 19" ILF riser that arrived here a couple of days ago.

The riser is great looking, solid, shock free and has an amazing grip.  I'm not sure what Kirk did technically, but whatever it was it worked.  When you first take hold of it it's not immediately clear how great it is, but as soon as you put on pressure on the string it becomes clear.  With any string pressure it immediately slides into the same position every time and stays there.

I've shot it so far with 50# Morrison limbs, but with the ILF fittings I'm going to take it down a few pounds for the 3D season and then go back up in August to be ready for hunting season.  My first time out with it I was getting 6" groups at 20 yards with arrows that I grabbed on the way out - with a little tuning the groups should be tighter, but then the 10 ring on a Reinhart deer target (assuming you use 8-10-12 scoring, is about 4" across, so were not talking about needing a lot of tuning.

Knowing that a picture is worth more than words:

Actually it's Canary wood with  G-10 running full depth belly to back. I call it an "I-Beam" construction even though the are no overlays that really make up a true I beam.

Glad you like her Paul.

I've got a few more of these in the works right now and will be stocking 17", 19" and a few 21" in the not so distant future. I  will take custom orders for these too.    Kirk

Once i get a couple more of these milled i may slim the shape down just a touch at the heel of the grip and the top of the shelf cut out.

Paul liked the looks of this Prototype "as is", but I'm going to play with it a bit more and try to get a more sleek version going....

Thanks for the Kudo's guys... i'll try and get some updated photos as these start taking shape.   Kirk
