Anybody have feedback on the Traditional Only shafts from 3R's? I've been shooting CX Heritage that seem to be tough as nails, are the Trad Only shafts as durable?
I'm considering trying them because they are slightly lighter in weight than the CX.
I think they are very good shafts. They are really Beman Hunters. Had mine for 2 years now, and the wood grain finish is wearing off (black underneath)but great shooters, and durable. The 5/16" is great too, so many options for inserts and such. I have no expirience with CX though, sorry.
Thanks Sirius. Sounds like the finish might not be as durable as the CX, that doesn't bother me much. My CX are going on 5 years with no noticeable wear from targets. They do have some obvious delaminated spots from hitting hard objects or other arrows though, which is why I'd like to replace them. Better safe than sorry, right?
I like the traditional only shafts. I've killed a pair of deer and various small game with them. They also tune very easily. However they have a tendency to get the inserts rammed into the shaft on impact so they aren't quite as tough as the heritage shafts to me.
I find them very brittle. Have broken several... .enough to quit using them. Not near as tough as my MFX's. Sorry, but that has been my experience. The least durable of any carbon arrow I've ever used... and that has been a lot of them.
I shoot them at 3D shoots and for hunting. I have taken 3 whitetails and a hog along with a few squirrels and a couple of coons. Broke one on a deer. The arrow penetrated the off side leg bone and sheared it off clean, and one in the hog. Other than those two, they have proven very durable. I like them! Mike
I really liked them. They shot well. I think the CE finish is a bit more durable and looks better. CE is all I shoot now.

I've never shot cx heritage, but I've ordered the trad only from 3rivers and they are very good arrows. They shoot straight and never break. I've hit brick, stones, trees and a wooden fence and they never break. The only ones I've broken is from arrows hitting arrows or stepping on one. Go get you some!
No complaints although mine did break when I hit the giant boulder that the 3d sheep was on.
I've shot both the CE and the Trad Only. As Rob said, the finish is a little more durable on the CE. If you shoot tight groups and slap arrows with the Trad Onlys you will scape some of the finish off, I haven't had that happen with the CE. You can also scape the finish off when stripping fletching if you're not careful but using wraps solves that problem. With that said I'm currently shooting the Trad Only 340s as they tuned the best for me and I'm very pleased with them.
Ive shot both and i like the CX better because the have more GPI than the Trad onlys..
I've been shooting the 340 and have not had any problems with them. I really like them.
I like mine alot as well. I have had some hard target impacts that have caused the bushing to pop out in the target when I used insert iron style glue. With hobby shop hot glue holding them in....no further issues.
