Being laid up right now has got my mind going with some good arrow builds in it, so here is what's been on my mind, fresh off the assembly line of the Motor City Machete shop.
I call these "Horizon". you get to choose if it's Sun Up, or Sun Down. I really love how the grain just "POPS" out on this douglas fir. I used a rattle can for the crown, but I would much rather use my yellow stain. I don't like covering up beautiful wood, but this paint was a perfect match for the feathers and nocks, so I had to give it a try.

Great looking arrows as always Mike! What spine are those?
Lookin good, Mike!
60-65#. That's all I ever buy, and make. With a little tuning, this weight shoots great out of all my bows.
Very sharp! :clapper:
Looks really nice....60-65 are my choice also!
B right!
Mike those areas look great, I love the yellow.
very clean.........
Beautiful arrows
Nice! Love the yellow with that dark stain.
Beautiful! I love that look when the dip, fletch and nock match perfectly. Well done. The grain sure does "pop" on the Doug Fir.
Those look great Mike !!!

Fast!
I can just see those arras going thru the air! Nice!
They are very subtle, as if...LOL Excellent work as usual Mike.
WOW, that is what I call a bright arrow. Nice work!
Very nice
Thanks for the compliments guys. To me..."they are good from a far, but far from a good", but that just gives me a place for improvement. That's the fun part of having a hobby.
While I was building these, I had the bright idea of using beet juice to stain some scrap pieces, and it was far from what I was hoping to achieve. I was hoping for a deep maroon/dark purple (you know, beet looking color) but it came out more pink. Back to the drawing board. I have a few more household things I want to try to get the color I'm desiring, and will try them out soon.
Mike I had some left over Rit dye bath from doing feathers. I poured it into a PVC tube with on end caped, and just sat a half dozen shafts in it for about 1/2 hour and was surprised how the color took to the wood, and still left some grain to see.You can get Rit in purple and maroon.
Mike, dying DF is a challenge. The natural color of the wood influences how it comes out. I find I have to go heavy on the stain and then steel wool it to bring out the grain.
Excellence as always Mike! You did good brother!
