Looking for some 550 to 600 grain shafts, leaning toward a hardwood.Who might have some in 65 to 70 spine?
Check out Braveheart Archery or some of the other sponsors here . I'm guessing they can steer you in the right direction.
Might also check with Snag at Wilderness Custom Arrows. I am sure he can help you out as well.
Tim at Braveheart is also a good source.
The surewood doug fir shafts I have weigh in at about 610 with feathers and a 125 grn point.
Both guys mentioned above have em.

Ash shafts will get you to 550-600 before points, finish, etc. They are super tough, but usually require a larger fletch than some of the lighter woods because they are slow to return to straight after bending around the riser. Raptor Archery has them. You can probably find them elsewhere as well.
If that is your desired raw shaft weight, you'll not find Douglas Fir that heavy. :archer2:
Ahh, didn't read close nuff, mine are finished arrows, sorry.
I've got some ash and birch left over from my custom arrow making days. If you are interested I can check and see what 's in the bin.
Okla BC, what length do you need/shoot.
Call Surewoods directly.....I recently got some 11/32 shafts that weighed 560-580 raw. I asked for the heaviest ones they had....
Then I soaked them in Danish Watco Oil for 5 days in a 3 foot PVC tube...then I drip dried them for 3 weeks.....
Cut down to 29 inches BOP with a 190 tusker and 3 5 inch feathers....they weigh just under 850 grains......
Just a thought.
XXX on the Surewood Doug Fir. 550-600 grains no problem, and they are great shafts.

That's a cool idea. I'm just curoius, did you weigh the shafts alone after you soaked them?
I cut them to 29 and1/2 inches
Allengheny arrows- Bill Bonczar can fix you up,
I've bought doz. from him and all excellent.
Luke,
No sir, I didn't....should have though. I really wanted to see what the end result would be, and if the arrows were going to be heavy enough so I waited to weigh them till they were done. My goal was to get as close to 850 as I could and I really got close.......
Now that I know it works I'll do more and weigh those as soon as I get nocks installed so I'll know how much weight they gained.......
I was concerned they might absorb the oil differently, and some shafts gain lots of weight while others didn't, but they all seemed to just soak it up...
