Does anyone shoot or have any experience with Liberty Long Bows?I am interested in the Contender or English models.
i have a lefty Liberty Chief Elite. 64", 53#@28" draw. prettiest bocote and tiger stripe myrtle you ever saw. shoots like a dream. Allen builds a great bow and is very easy to deal with. you wouldn't regret any of his bows. smooth drawing, hard hitting. great grip (mine has the locator grip). excellent workmanship.
also, he has a couple of new designs that you might check into -- the edge and the srting follow model.
You wont find any better,Meaning, the bow,and the bowyer.Ive shot both the models you mention, and personally,id go with the contender. Not saying anything is wrong with the English,by any means though.Havent tried his Classic model YET,but lookin foreward to it.
I've shot the edge. It's smooth drawing and shooting.I'd like to own one some day. I don't have any experience with the other models.
I have 4 of Allens bows . And many of the local lads here have them too ...
The English is probably shot to shot , day to day the most accurate bow I have ever shot . It is without doubt an exceptional bow .
His craftmanship is absoluetly flawless
Allen is a true gentleman and an absolute pleasure to do business with .
I've owned several of Allens English models yew cored and bamboo cored. 58# 68" yew cored, 60# 66" bamboo, 55# yew 68", and currently 54# 66" bamboo and a 50# 68" bamboo. I prefer the bamboo cores.
The bows are solid performers and the workmanship is impeccable.
Allen is a man of high integrity and it shows in his bows.
I also have a Howard Hill Wesley Special and recently sold a Hill Tembo.
I looked pretty hard at the Edge but can't leave those long straight limbs so his new string follow design is next. Hope to have a test bow in hand next week.
You can't go wrong with a Liberty bow.
I prefer black glass too many variables in the clear glass. I hate streaks. It's a crap shoot for the bowyer you don't how clear it is till it's glued up all though my yew bows were clear and were perfect.
johnnyk71 is right, Allens myrtle and bocote is stunning.
I originally bought my English years ago after reading 58'S review ...
And yep , Allens myrtle is stuning and I have always got great lookinh yew too !!!
Can't imagine a better longbow than the English. It's the only bow I've shot, or wanted to shoot, for the past 5 years. I'm sure his other models are as equally impressive. Allen has my attention with the new Classic string follow model.
Can't go wrong with one of Allen's bows. I have a Contender and an Edge. Love them both! As stated his work is flawless and his designs are well thoughtout and tested. Worth every penny.

I have a chief - never thought of selling it and I've sold many.
I will be getting a"Contender" and shooting it in the USA Archery Traditional world's. I am excited about it and looking forward to shooting it.Have only heard good about Allen and his Bows.
I have a 64" Contender that is 54# @28". Mine is a TD model. A good shooting super smooth bow that exhibits superior worksmanship. A highly recommended bow from a real craftsman.

Allen is one of those true proffesional bowyers who stand by their word and ensure that you the customer gets what you want!!
Dealing with Allen from Australia ,he has always delivered true to his word and I could not be happier with his bows.As Ben M. mentions his Yew is outstanding and the English model is my favourite too.
I will be cosidering him again when I am in for another!!

English aand Chief Elite light up my bow rack. Allen is a true craftsman and his fit and finish will compare with any. Shootability is also outstanding. Can't go wrong, tell him what you want and he will deliver!
Best shooting D Shaped bows I've ever shot! And they are right up there in performance with most r/d bows that aren't D shaped when strung! Very good bows!!!
I have a 27# Contender that I like. Workmanship is outstanding. Allen is easy to work with.
I shot the Edge Friday .. I was really impressed and will probably be giving him a call this week.
I personally dont have one, but with all the good things ive read and heard, i cant wait to get my paws on one and try it. :archer2:
He kept pushing me out to shoot it.. I declined a couple of times , then fell into his lttle trap LOL .
I was seriously impressed and it was all I could do not to place an order on one then and there.
That Edge was fast and sweet shooting along with gret woorkmanship.
