NOW is your chance...to REALLY give something back....not only to Trad Bowhuning, but to yourself.
TradGang would like to preserve some very special stories. Stories from a life long Trad Bowhunter with a spectacular perspective of the hunt, and a way with words....and we need your support to do so.
The original story teller of TradGang is going to do a book......Mr. Charlie Lamb.
Many of you have read Charlie's stories here, heard some told on 'The Bowhunters of TradGang' DVD, but there's a lot of stories beyond those.....and there will be some of those unique hunts in the book also. For those of you that haven't been here that long...you've missed a bunch from Charlie...so now is your chance to understand why we need to do this.
Charlie has stuff compiled at this point, and all we need to do is pre-sell enough to get this done. I hope we can pull this off....cause our lifestyle is truly deserving of such.
No need at this point for me to stand on ceremony, or romance this plea....let's just get it done shall we????
There are two ways to help out...both get YOU a book.
#1 - $35 will get a copy sent to you. And, with your name added to the book in the section of Contributors.
#2 - $100 will also get a copy sent to you with your name added to the Contributor section, but your copy will be PERSONALLY signed, meaning a personal note to you signed by Charlie....not just a signature.
So, make sure you contact all your friends....tweet, text, flicker....what ever it takes...
GET THE WORD OUT!!!!
Just Click the link below to order....Check - Money Order - Credit Card - Paypal...
Book by Charlie Lamb - Click Here (http://www.tradgang.com/charliebook/)

Done. Is there a time frame/estimate?
You have $$$
Done. Congrats Charlie. I'll volunteer to do some proof reading of the manuscript.. :D
I'm in !!
Thanks guys
No Mobow...not yet...gotta see if we get enough funds to do it or refund everyone's money back!!!
But, Charlie is way out in front on this....we've been talking about this for a while, and are to the point where we can jump on just getting it published basically. Yeah, there's going to be some preliminary proof reading and such...then onto production......but after its a go...maybe 2 or 3 months would be my best guess.
We are off to a GREAT start already on Paypal already in just under 2 hours....so don't delay folks...let's get this DONE!!!
I'm in. It should be good reading!
Congrats on this guys. Heck, just that picture is worth $35 guys.
This will go great with one of Charlie's bows that was recently gifted to my son!
What could be better! :clapper: :clapper:
Can't wait to read this. Good luck with the publication Charlie.

I have never met 99% of the people on this site and certainly have never met Mr Lamb or Mr Green so have no axe to grind.
Hey but as the saying goes free advertising is free advertising.
Met both. Solid. Check is in the mail. :D
I'm in! This should be great. Charlie does tell a good story.

Is it not customary to hunt with weapons OTHER THAN trad bows?........yet we do....
Rock ON!!!
So you read a couple pages, then flip through some blank ones while you wait for Charlie to continue? I love those suspenseful breaks :D Can't afford one right now, might be in on a second run if things get better. Good luck, and I also will offer my proofreading talents.
I'm onboard, good luck Charlie!
Put in mine, good luck
I'll take one for the library...
I'm in! :) the more photos in the book the better guys! Good luck!

All I can say is it's about time!! :bigsmyl: :biglaugh:

Hell yea!!! Count me in......
Charlie is one of the most interesting people out there. I just learned most recently through his pictures on FB not only what he has acomplished as a bowhunter but his sacrafices as a Vietnam Veteran. The pictures af Charlie and the men he faught with are wonderfull tidbits of history that I really enjoyed seeing. Thanks for everything Charlie and I am sure this will all come together. I cant wait to read it.

The problem with a publisher giving advances is they are only interested in $$$$$$$$ and how many books will sell NOT a niche audience. That in no way means the stories need not be told or won't be appreciated but that the mass crowds whose lives are occupied with gadgets and fast entertainment won't see it's value and buy it so publishers won't touch it. Their loss, but the venture is our gain. This will not make Charlie rich
( I've had friends who have published this kind of venture) there is no money in it but we will be enriched.
I'm in going to PayPal now count me in
Done.
Yeah...Merle, I almost swallowed my dip when I read 'financial gains'. We just want to get the book done and the stories preserved. :readit:
I don't think Barnes and Noble are going to call either of us. :biglaugh:
Nice horse Merle.
I have a b day coming up, I will see if my folks will front me. This will be an awesome gift.
Please don't delay Guy's n Gals.....we are getting there...
The sooner this gets done....the sooner we'll have a book!!!
Done ! And thank y'all
Very excited to be able to help get this book off the ground, financially or otherwise. Though I'm no old timer or founding father here at TG, Charlie's stories mean so much to me. His words and his wisdom enrich our lives and our hunts. Thank you, Charlie (and Terry).
I can't begin to do the pay pal thing... don't use that and wont...personal thing from the past and such.
Terry, where can we send real checks?
You can post or PM me.
I've spent 20+ yrs word-smithing and helping edit a few professional tomes if I can be of help proofing or whatever they call that early re-reads....
Anxious to help.. and by "HELP" that means we're all getting a book just for committing, but need to know how to make out a check and where to send...
I'm with Doc on this one. Where do we send the check/money order...who should we make it out to?
Johnny/JAG
If you click on the link Doc there is an address for mail in checks
It's the link in Terry's first post
Tracy
I could use a good read about now!
Looking forward to it Mr. Lamb. Money sent.

I've had the pleasure of hearing a few of those stories around the campfire. Can't wait to have an entire book of Charlie's Adventures! Paypal sent...tippit
Hmmmm, I wonder what book #1 of this first run would bring on the ST. Judes auction? :dunno: What ya think Terry?
Now this is so cool, Gotta dig my paypal info out and I'll be in.
Double cool that I was there for that picture of Charlie in the mornin fog.
Sounds like a great idea 4dogs . To add an incentive for contributing have a drawing for book #2 anyone who contributes the $35 gets one chance at a drawing for it as well as a note from Charlie and the $100 folks get 3 chances in the draw for book 2.
Thanks Guys......and yes...ALL payment options are on the page I provided a link for....just write Charlie Book in the 'for' blank of your check.

I'm in, love reading books about traditional archery and love Charlie's writing on here. Looking forward to reading it.
I am in! Going to be a great addition to my man cave on the table where I rest my weary feet after a long days hunt.
Done :archer2:
Payment sent via PayPal. I have only been on TradGang for the past year but have learned tons from many great people. I enjoy reading the stories and it makes me want to be there as well and experience them myself. I have never met this Charlie but I am willing to support this effort as I can also be a part of supporting my passion of the sport. Good luck and hope TradGang can raise the money.
Larry....thanks for that post this morning....you made my coffee that much richer....really. :campfire:
Limey,
What you are failing to understand is that Charlie is producing the book on his own and not being paid to write it like professional writers. So the money we are fronting for book sales will help pay to have the books published and bound.
I've been a member here on TG since the day Terry decided to put it together and Charlie has been here just as long. We trust each other and that's a good thing.
So we are not promoting a friends book as much as we are investing in preserving the great stories Charlie has to tell and has told before for the generations of TradGangers to come.
Mike
Order placed.
Looking forward to some great reading.
Thank you all for taking the time and effort to put together what is bound to be a fantastic collection of archery enjoyment.
Ron
Nobody said you had to contribute if you dont want to,nobody said you had to read the book if you dont want to,nobody said you had to gain knowledge and hunting tips from his vast experience if you dont want to.
I think its a great idea, Charlie has flung more arrows then most have eaten dinners.Any chance of an action film being made later on.
:notworthy: :campfire:
I'm with lpcjon2 on this one. If you don't want it don't worry about it.
On the way to the Post Office, will have the money order in the mail TODAY.
JAG/Johnny
I cant believe I missed this yesterday, but I'm in. Can't wait...
It always amazes me how folks will just show up and fall on their own sword. Jealousy is a really really bad thing.
Enough of that, its been removed....
We are moving on.... :campfire:
Sounds awesome! I'll send an MO ASAP! Thanks Charlie and Terry! :notworthy: :notworthy: :notworthy: :campfire:
Terry, Not trying to get on a soap box but Thanks for the note those are the comments that have got me here and keep me coming back for more. I know there are MANY members on TradGang and many of you are close friends. It is great that everyone had taken the time to talk to me and make me feel like I am part of the "gang". I would give more than anything to someday be able to meet and hunt with many of you. I truly feel that I have missed out many years of experience and friendship with members here since I am now 43 and just got into Trad last year but heck there is lots of time left to enjoy it and learn Thanks again for welcoming me in to the TradGang it is greatly appreciated and that is to all of you TradGang members out there.
how much to get charlie to read it to me? :goldtooth:
I'M IN!
:clapper:
This is one of those books that will be my therapy for the 'between seasons'. Should be great!
Dan

Terry, Thanks for taking care of business (on two counts). I was afraid that "ol' Slimey" was going to cause Charlie to have another rollover (good grief  ) and this book really needs to be printed. Mr. Lamb has always been on my top ten list of "want to meet someday" and the book would be the next best thing. :)
I'm not as familiar as many here. I did some searching and reading. I like Mr. Lamb's experience, humble nature, and telling it like it happened. I enjoyed the KS Turkey Hunt.
I retired three perfectly good Magnus Bullheads because of the thread where fellows talked about em bouncing off birds. I can learn from the experience of others without having to replicate it.
Just bought the book.
I'm in. Glad this was posted in the History/Collector section too.
Doh! I've had my hands full the past few days with some family matters of urgency and just 'assumed' with everyone talking PayPal that was the link...
I'll go get my ducks lined up and copy the addy and get a check out... :banghead:
Just ordered gonna be a great read, if the stories from here are any indication.
Nick
Wouldn't miss it,Thanks for your contributions to trad hunting Charlie. Looking forward to the great read.
Will this be all Charlie stories or will some of those stories from the St. Jude story collection be used to fill the book out? I think Terry won the bid on that one a year or two ago.
Charlie has enough stories to fill a library .....he don't need ours.
:campfire:
I'm trying to figure out how he's gonna make us wait to get more of the story like he does so well on here.
We will most likely just put the book down out of habit I guess. Fuss a bit and then read some more.
Sent mine in the mail today, can't wait for the book by the master storyteller.
Thanks Terry for your part in getting this going, Charlie, I've been hoping for years bud :wavey:
I missed the post yesterday too. Payment by PayPal has been made.
Just paid my taxes, but when the eagle farts (payday)i will be in on this.
Done. Winters in Alaska are long, I look forward to reading it. thanks for the opportunity to help with this.
just sent mine...good luck.
Charlie has long been on my list of people I gotta meet.
Not only does he have a huge catalog of hunting experiences starting when I was a mere prat, but his honesty and true immersion in archery have always made a big impression on me. He reminds me of my start, in the days when a bow was a real bow, his stories remind me of when I first started bowhunting, the excitement and the learning,(learning is what puts excitement in anything I do!) plus what he has done leaves me plenty of learning to do in this game of catch-up.
His integrity is without question, and I am sure that he did a lot of soul-searching and practical planning before consenting to abide by our wishes to publish his book. Yes, we have sat in our chairs and begged him to write a book for our entertainment and education for years!! He would agonize over collecting money for something he did not already have produced for distribution.
Heck, I would gladly pay him the price of the book for all that he has provided us for free thus far.
Count me in, as soon as I get a spare hundred bucks. Yes, I want Charlie to tell me how wonderful I am inside the cover. :D
Killdeer
I think the cover pic should be of Charlie shirtless chasing a deer with bow in hand in some buffalo briefs. just to catch the readers attention.
This book is history in the making if anyone has ever seen some of his hunting pics, and the places he has hunted it takes your breath away. The one of him under the rainbow on the hill comes to mind.
Well worth the price!
What an awesome idea. Prepaid done!!!!!!
Can't wait!
We as a group have already lost a lot of our history. We need to know about our past. We need to know about those that came before us.
Charlie was there and did it. Not a lot of us left that have that background. This book is a must have, even if Charlie can't tell a story (and we know THAT ain't true).
And you know what else. Sure, Fred Bear and his ilk are gone. . . but others are still around, others that are also icons of our sport. I wish like heck I could have met Fred. I can't now, but I can meet some of you, and have been trying to do so, within my means.
Don't buy it if you don't want to. But then, you may never know about. . . .
ChuckC
Facebook has also now been informed of the opportunity!!!!!
Great stuff!
I just ordered a copy!
I'm in.
Thanks EVERYONE!!!!!

The truth is that WE owe more than money can buy to Charlie and people like him. For him (and you) to take time to preserve and document such a celebrated and blessed life is actually priceless. Thanks for doing this
I just sent my funds by way of paypal. I will just say that it is an HONOR to be able to help Charlie with his book. I have never met Charlie but have seen enough posts on this sight to know how much he has contributed to traditional bowhunting. I think it is great that I can play a small role in making this book possible when it might not happen otherwise without the support of all of us who love traditional bowhunting so much. If you are like me you feel a special bond with many people on this sight even though you have never met. Can't wait to get my copy.
I'm In !! Can't wait
Glenn
without a shadow of doubt, charlie lamb is a true living traditional bowhunting legend.
it is my sincere honor to know the man and have hunted with him - which includes appreciating the mellifluous nocturnal proboscis music he's serenaded myself and others with during our hunt camp soirées. :D
going to write and send the check next payday....
Rob
Did you come across with all that fancy wording or did Kille? :saywhat:
Done :campfire:
Money headed your way, good luck Charlie. Cant wait to get ir and read it.

I want to thank everybody for the kind words and support. I'm truly humbled. We'll be getting the book in everyone's hands with all due haste... but it won't be tomorrow so a little patience is in order.
No man has ever been blessed to have as many brothers and sisters as I have.
Thanks again Charlie for doing the book and don't worry about what time it takes. Like Terry said In the trad history forum ! We all wait on bows. So wait we will. Thank you
I'm in, sent it with paypal
:campfire:
Keep it coming guys, I'd like it to be a hard back!
FYI Terry,

Got it done T! Thanks for doing this Charlie. I've missed seeing Charlie on 2 different occasions, due to circumstance and health. Mabey 3rd times the charm
Paypal sent.
Looking forward to it. :campfire:
I just sent my payment via Paypal. I can't wait to read the book!!!
Terry, couple of questions:
1) Is there a cutoff date for accepting money for this project?
2) I chose the second option to have the book signed and I am considering a second contribution but would like to do this in my daughters name but still Pay with PayPal. Is there a way to do this and ensure the note in the book would be to her and not two copies to myself?
Thanks!
Steve....sure thing...just put a note in the place to do so....if you can't find it...just do it and email me and I'll make sure her name is attached to the order.
No big deal at all.
Thanks..... :campfire:
Will do. Thanks Terry. Need to wait for pay day but I will get it done. Thanks!!!
:campfire:

If we didn't have to wait, it wouldn't be from Charlie. I'm in.

Money will be sent out Wednesday, J
I'm in. I don't know Charlie and I'm not sure that I've even read any of his stories on here since I've only been around a few weeks. I'm poor, but I love a good book, and from all the comments here, this looks like it will be an interesting one. So, poor or not, I'm on the list.

Got to hunt with Charlie in Texas this past January. Great story teller but even a better person. Don't let the delay keep you from contributing. Charlie's word is good as gold, and his book will be well worth the wait.
God Bless
I am in love Charlie's stories
