Got to send out two risers, left and right, and one set of limbs.
Matt
i'm in, nice looking bows.
Thanks for showing your interest in my bows. I hear you left handed shooters let me get this started then I can make a lefty. My upper limb is shaped to fit into the sight window my limbs are not interchangeable from a right to left handed risers.
Good start George with the pass around .This will be fun to keep up with.George is a good guy you wont be disappointed.
I would love to put on this list!! I have always been interested in a rainyday bow.
Please add me to the list.
PeteA

The pass around is hitting the road .The first stop is in Bakersfield Ca. I made up a list in the order it will shipped. . Thanks George

I got to hold this beauty last week.George brought it by the shop, wow! I really love the lines in this bow. Good job George!
Sweet looking bow... Slightly off topic but I'm new to this and was wondering why some take-downs have the limbs mounted to the back of the riser and some to the front of the riser? Is there any benefit or draw back to one or the other or is it just bowyers preference?
Ooooooooohhh!! I see im perty high on the list,I'm already startin to drool. That is a real looker there, gonna be hard to pass it on i tel ya.
Joshua. (Hunter74)
I build this type of bow because I like the way A forward riser bow shoots for me . I have a little more control with my shots and I like the looks of them .Draw backs I have none If you get A chance try one .
George
Add me please. Travis Elliott
When the lefty becomes available I'd like to be on that list.
I rceived the bow today from George(Rainyday), I'll be shooting it over the weekend and posting my comments, then off to Matt(Raging Water).
very nice bow, Id like to try it out too
I'm glad to hear you got the bow Richard. Looking forward to your comments this week end .Have A good time this week end .
George
I could not resist and shot a few arrows with the bow tonight. This bow shoots great. I typically shoot a longbow but I may be looking into getting a recurve after shooting one of George's bows. Here are some pictures of my first four arrows from the bow @ 18 yards. The arrows show a little weak, I shoot them from my longbow that is 49# @ my 26" dl.

This is an awesome bow George. I love the way the handle is shaped, my hand was so close to the shelf just as close if not closer than it is on my longbow. The difference being that on my bow I have to place my hand close to the shelf on this bow it is automatic because of the handle design. Even with the arrow not being tuned to the bow the fletch did not hit my hand. I could go on and on, the bow is awesome I cant wait to shoot more this weekend. Thanks again.
Richard . Thanks for your comments and pics. About the shelf It's cut 1 inch. above the deepest part of the grip I like the arrow close to my hand. Give us more feed back after you shoot it some more.
George
Too late to be added to the list? I'd love to try this thing out!
Thx. Looks incredible!
Please add me to the lefty list!
Thanks,
Ward
Well I shot the bow again today, probably over fifty arrows through it. This bow is super smooth and easy to shoot. I ddnt have an arrow that would tune perfectly to the bow but I was close. I shot out to 23 yards(the max at my house)and my group were very consistent better than my longbow that I've been shooting for a year and a half. This bow is simply awesome. I hope to own one in the future. Thanks again George.
I may get a chance to shoot tomorrow morning if not this will be it for me, either way I'll be shipping it out to Matt Monday afternoon.
Richard . Thanks for trying out A Rainy Day Bow and for the pics. and comments.
Thanks George
Matt the bow was sent to you today. Thanks again George.
10-4
Will make a post when received.
Matt
I can hardly wait for Matt's review .
George
I got home late tonight to see a green bow case. I think it's the Rainy Day bow.
Will shoot it this weekend and post a review. Then, send it on.
Matt
Looking forward to some comments.
George
George,
I will be posting pictures and story tonight.
But, I put your bow thru it's paces this morning. It was great.
I used different weight arrows, different spines, and carbons and woodies. from, AD Trads, Beeman 50/70s, Beeman Hunters, to woodies. All were 10 gpp to 14 gpp for this 44# bow. (same arrows I use on my 60 - 100# bows)
It was a test of "forgiveness". Your bow passed with flying colors.
Details and pictures late, tonight.
Matt
Matt .
I like the information your passing on to us .Will be waiting for more details .
Thanks George
This morning I had about 30 minutes to try out the Rainy Day Bow.
So, I grabbed a bunch of mixed matched arrows, AD Trads, Carbon Express 6075 Hunters, Beeman 5070s, and some 65# Spined Woodies.
For those of you that know me, I have no bows under 60# draw weight and like bows closer to 80#s.
I was curious to see what would work best out of a 44# bow.
These shots were taken "cold" no warm up. From 15 yards. Oh, I set the brace at 8 1/2, did not adjust the noch, and shot 3 under (as I am thinking about going from split to 3 under)
Also, I did not pick woods, then carbons, etc. Whatever I got my hand on, I shot. Different arrows, different weights and different spines.
So, the arrows should be all over the place, right????
Here was the first volley. You will notice the first 5 or so, were all over the place. Then the next 10 got closer and closer together.
Here are the first few wild arrows removed. See the group got tighter and tighter.
(http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac138/hemdell/Rainey%20Day/ATT73845.jpg) (http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac138/hemdell/Rainey%20Day/ATT01019.jpg)
Then, I went and shot just my woodies.
(http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac138/hemdell/Rainey%20Day/ATT82418.jpg) (http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac138/hemdell/Rainey%20Day/ATT95336.jpg) (http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/ac138/hemdell/Rainey%20Day/ATT02538.jpg)
Then, I stepped back to 22 yards and shot another woodie. And, after this shot, I called it a good round.

My review????
Very nice shooting bow. Very forgiving of any kind of arrow. Plenty of speed and cast as these arrows are mostly 600 gr(+/-). Smooth in draw, no stack (but I don't really register stack very well on a 44# bow).
The riser mass was very nice and cut to center(ish). I am a low wrist grip guy but this grip was just dandy.
Matt
Matt .
Thanks again for taking the time to review A Rainy Day bow.
George
Jon . (tradhunter)
Matt is sending out the Rainy Day bow to you should receive it by the end of this week let us know how it shoots for you.

That's funny tell her she has to share.
Not sure how long you are going to keep this going but I am also partial to your limb mount design and current shoot mostly Habu's. My next Habu is a year and a half away and always looking for another option. If you will send it to me I will give it a good work out. The bow is right in my weight range and perfect for my array of arrows. Just PM me if possible.
Thanks
Mike
PAMIKE
sent you a pm.
George
Great - looks like a get a turn too!!!!
Jon,
The bow is on it's way to you. Enjoy.
Matt
Well, now I know I will not be gettin much sleep tonight! I am looking foreward to runnin the perty lil thing out in the woods with the family.
The bow came in yesterday while I was at the rockfest in K.C. so I didn't get to open it.I will get to see it after work tonight...so excited!
I do have a question,I know folks have been sending it back out after a day or two, however the Iowa trad rondesvous is next week.I am wondering if I may take it with me there to put it in more people's hands....kinda get an over all opinion, and let a bunch of folks see it? Or would folks further down the list rather have it quicker? Think about it and give me a holler.
Jon
If you want to keep the bow an extra few days that's fine with me . no better place then a trad event for you to give it a good try.
George
To you left handers, here is my pass around bow
I have a lefty for you to try out. The bow is 50 lbs. at 28". The riser is made with dark gray and brown actionwood. The limbs are cherry under clear glass and cherry on part of the grip and limb wedges.

so cool..sent reply George
I will post names of the persons who signed up for the lefty Rainy Day bow pass around in the next couple of days.
George
I like the look of the lefty, could I be put in the pile please? Also do you know how bad it might stack out to a 30" draw?
Kirk
The left handed pass around bow is #50 - 28" and #55 - 30" I don't feel that stacking is a problem and this bow is 60".

Steve sent you A P.M.on the pass around sign up list.
George
Rainy Day bows will be at western states traditional rendezvous Memorial weekend hope to see you there.
George
I just received the LH Rainey Day this morning. I will shoot and post some pictures and then on to Art George in New Hampshire.
I just finished shooting the Rainy day several times this afternoon/evening.
The bow came packed very securely in a plastic arrow box inside a cardboard box. Ingenious way to protect a bow during shipping!
It came in socks and with padding. Included were spare strings with installed Whiskers and Brass Nock locator and a bow stringer. The bow is a LH, 60", 50#@28". It came in at 45.2#@my 26" draw on my Easton Digital Scales.
I shot some newly built Beman MFX Classics in 500 spine out of the bow. These arrows are 27.25" long and weigh 507 grains. These arrows are going to a lightless continent with me in 2.5 months.
In my first two ends I smacked arrows both times -- scared me because I don't like to damage arrows (I know)!
The bow is smooth-drawing and as quiet as my best rigs right out of the box.
I put it through my chronograph. It shot within 1-2 FPS of all my other 44-45# recurves including Widows and a Predator (153 FPS at my 26" draw)
The colors in the woods are very distinct and bright, probably due to the gloss finish? The limb fit to riser is very secure with tight tolerances. It is easy to put together with no movement at all before or after strung.
The bow was solid in my hand with no vibration after the shot.
This is a remarkably affordable bow considering the wood combinations, smooth drawing, and performance.
The only thing I'd want different on this bow would be a satin finish. But I realize this is a "show" bow to highlight the workmanship.
I'll be moving it to Art George next.
Thanks for letting me check out your bow George!

I got to say,if you shoot one of theese bows you will be impressed.
Well,as much as we wish we didn't have to.....I'll be shipping out this purdy 'lil bow tomorrow before work. I hope the rest of the folks have as much fun with it as we did.Ames was a blast, everyone who shot the bow loved it.
Roy
Thanks for taking the time to review a Rainy Day bow and for the testing you did against some of the top name bows. Bows are also available in a satin finish.
Thanks George.
Jon
Thanks for the kind words am glad you liked the bow.
George
For you detail-oriented folks. I looked at the picture of my in-house range again just now. You can tell a lot about a person's preferences from pictures like this!
--I paper-tune.
--I tie on nock locators (red spool of bowstring)
--I like Sitka Gear
--Another hobby is building plank on frame boats
--I'm real careful with bows --foam pad on floor
I'm a Southern Baptist. (Just kidding here, I am but I don't think anything in the pics reveal that one!?
I recieved the Rainy day bow today and goy a few shots out of her and so far..pretty darn nice and quiet shooting beman 500 MFX shafts..front loaded..gonna do more shooting when i get some extra time
Will be waiting to hear more when you get a chance .
George
George, just picked up the righty from the PO today, usually on Fridays I meet up with some guys at the range after work but we've been dodging rain in and out the past couple of weeks down here in South Florida, today is no exception :) I'll try to get into the back and get some shots off though. Hopefully it clears up a bit tomorrow and I can get her to the range for some bigger distances, have about 15 yards in the back yard.
Soon as I get to spend some real time with her my review will be coming up
As you all know good things sometimes come to a end, I had alot of fun with the bow inbetween packing and constant heavy downpours for the past 5days..I shot her in the house and out in the rain..the bow is a solid performer and could hang with the best..I apologize in advance I wasnt able to get pics or video but she like a middle weight arrow I shot light carbons and heavy carbons and settled on Beman weighing about 460 grains..she spit them out and she had a skinny string she would really shine, George thank you again for allowing the pass around. Headed out the door now to the PO to ship the bow to Kirk Russell in Co. hope you enjoy the bow
Art
Thanks for your review I wish the weather would have been better. we all enjoy shooting a lot more when the sun is out .
Thanks again George

Johnny
I'm glad you liked the bow . To bad you didn't have more free time to shoot. some pic. would be nice when you have the time.
Thanks George
Oh boy! Getting closer! I'm next in line for the lefty!
Ken
Kirk has posted his review of Rainy Day bows under L.H. Rainy Day bow pass around with pic. Thanks Kirk.
George
Nice review!
I'll keep my eyes open for it!
Ken;
I plan to ship the bow tomorrow. Have fun with it.
Up date the right handed pass around bow is in T.N. Doug received it today will be waiting for his review.
George
Hmm...Righty in TN and now the Lefty has made it to VA....nice timing!
Got off work a little early and came home to find that Lefty had made its way to me.
After stringing it up with a BH of 8 1/4", I headed outside in the heat for just a few minutes.
My first shot was decidedly off. Next 4 were within 6" of each other all right around the center. "Hmm...not bad!"
So, I shot for another 20 minutes or so from 17 yards. Here's my last group.
Initial impressions of the bow are: I like the contrast in the riser; the bow is smooth from start to finish on the draw (27" for me); and it is whisper quiet.
To be honest, the grip is just a bit large for me. But, maybe its more the double palm swells. I didn't care for them much at first. But, after a few minutes of shooting, it dawned on me that the belly mounted limbs (more forward handle) and the palm swells on each side really lock down the positioning of the bow in my hand. I think it reduces the possibility of torquing the riser greatly.
My guess is that's the main reason bow shoots so accurately.
One other thing I absolutely love about the bow are the rounded edges on the front of the riser. Pet peeve of mine is to have sharp corners on the front of the riser because I so often carry it by the handle horizontally, string down held at the handle. But, again, that's just me.
Later on, I'll put up some more photos from the weekend that lies ahead!
Nice bow George!
Ken
glad you got it ken
Pics as promised, George makes a nice bow, shot my AD trad lites very well and drew back to 29" pretty darn smooth. I too had some adjusting to the dual swell grip to make but the more I shot it the more I liked it. Very nice bow, was thumping the targets nice and solid

Ken
Thanks for your review you covered A lot about the bow A little about the grip I can build the grip to your hand size.good shooting
Thanks George
Johnny
Thanks for the pics.and your review I like your arrows.
Thanks George
Okay....spent a nice weekend with the lefty. It is packed up and ready to ship tomorrow.
I'll stick behind everything I put in my initial review. This bow is smooth and quiet! I've gotten use to the double palm swells this weekend. I'm covinvced they help me shoot more accurately because they position the bow in my hand the same each time.
I don't know if that's true, but I've shot this bow as well as any other bow I own and better than most all of them.
Here's a couple of photos right before I packed her up.

Thank you again for your review and the added pics.

The left handed pass around is in AZ.Steve Hanchette sent me a pm. thanks for the info.
George
Here is my take on the Rainy Day bow that George let me try out for a week : The bow was constructed of a actionwood for the riser, 2 different colors that made a nice contrast. It had rear mounted limbs which I can only compare to my Black Widow. I now understand why BW uses this type limb mount and I suspect that's why George uses them. They make for a very smooth drawing bow. I actually liked the Rainy Day bow better than my BW as far as physical weight goes, it is lighter to carry and just as stable to shoot. I shot 400 grain carbon arrows (.500 spine) out of the bow drawn to 28.5 inches. No stack or hand shock with the bow braced at 8.5 in. Nice stable feel to bow and quick shooting arrow. The riser had a great design and a small indexer type hump for my thumb. I really enjoyed that. I don't have photos to post but I shot pretty good with this bow, I wouldn't be afraid to but one of George's creations especially for the very reasonable price.
I shipped the bow out on Friday, June 29 to Brad in Fowler, Michigan, priorty and insured. Thanks so much to George for letting me try his bow.
Trad brothers, let me know if you have any questions, I would be glad to answer thru PM.
Thanks again George,
Doug Arrington

Doug
Thanks for your review sounds like you enjoyed shooting the bow.
George
I received the Rainyday pass around bow on Thursday, June 28th. After unpackaging the bow ,I looked it over for any cracks,or delamination, there was none. The bow is a very good looker ,and I liked the heft of the riser,it made for a very stable bow in the hand. After putting the bow together ,I went outside to shoot it. I tried different brace heights ,given in the instructions from George. 8 1/2 shoots best for me. After finding that brace height,I shot 4 different arrows, all had 125 grain field points, but the arrows are as listed---29" -2016 Legacy 4 fletched
29"--2018 XX75 Gamegetter
29 "--AD Lite
32"--AD Stinger
the last 3 were 3 fletched. The pic is of that group from 20 yards, and they were shot in no particular order.
Its a very forgiving bow.
I guess the cons for me were the grip ,to large for my hand, but George addressed that already, and for me a duller finish for hunting. Overall I think its a well made bow, smooth draw and dead in the hand,I'd be happy to own and shoot one.
Steve---From Az

Steve
Thanks for your review and nice shooting using 4 different spine arrows .The lefty bow is headed back home and I would like to thank everyone who took part in the pass around.
Thank you George.
The left handed pass around made it back home safe and sound .Thanks again for your reviews.
George
Finally had a chance this morning to shoot the pass around bow.
Set brace height to 8" and went to shoot.
Shot my MFX classics 400's and my Gold Tip 5575.
Arrows cut to 30.5" with 100 grain tips and the classics have the inserts glued in. I have a 29" draw and the bow drew smoothly to that with no stack at all.
Overall a smooth shooting and quiet bow with no vibration for me on the shot.
Like others have stated the only thing i would like is a duller finish on the bow for hunting.
Overall a very nice bow and a good shooter.
here is a picture of my 4 arrow group this morning from 16 yards. sorry but is a cell phone picture but you get the idea.
thanks for the opportunity george and i will get the bow sent out the first of the week. Give's me a chance to shoot it a few more times. once again thanks to opportunity to shoot this fine bow.
You may be hearing from me in the future to order one. :)
Curt
That is some great shooting what a group. I used a gloss finish to show more of the wood grain in the limbs and I understand what your saying .In a hunting bow most would want a satin finish . I appreciate your review.
Thanks George
just mailed the bow out priority insured. p.o. tells me that ryan should have it on monday. thanks.
Tho
That is a sweet looking bow. If anyone near the St. Louis area has one Pm me please. I'd like to see it in person. I am more picky with recurves than longbows, due to highly figured grips I'm sure. The Bear takedown thin grip is what I prefer on recurves.. Anyone?
Was finally able to unwrap the bow today after receiving it yesterday. If it shoots as good as if looks or feels, I am in for a treat!! It will will be the weekend before I will be able to really test it and write a review.
Ryan
Will be waiting for your review give the bow a good work out this weekend and let us know what you think.
George
Well my wife and I was finally able to test the bow. She said it shot well except for it being a little heavy for her. From what I could tell it was a very smooth shooting bow with very little hand shock. The grip didn't quiet fit my hand but I know that is some that could be fixed. I was very impressed with the bow for it to be only 44lbs at my draw length.
I put it in the mail for the next person yesterday.

This sure has been a awesome passaround to keep up on.I think it was a great thing that George stept up to the request from the lefty's and made a recurve for them too.Good luck with orders George.Lets keep this passaround going!
Mailed the bow off today, before lunch to Mike Wieldman. Really enjoyed what time I had with the bow George.
I really liked the way it was packaged. Also the two strings and tools for putting it together and the stringer. What I pulled from the bow sock was beautiful. I called my friend Ray and we agreed to meet at storage to shoot the bow, since we have been having major downpours. The day we shot the bow it was raining. But given the 20 yd access under cover worked out fine. Now I am not one to reinvent the wheel but get the basics and go from there. No!! I didn't and don't weight my arrows. But what we were shooting was POC,#55-60, with 125 gr tips. The first arrow Ray shot was dead center. The tail end was kicking up so twisted the nock down and eye balled it. We didn't get to spend a lot of time but managed to keep all 3 arrows within a dollar bill of each other. I liked the grip. Ray mentioned if we had the time to tune it to our liking we could be knocking nocks. Adjust the brace height, set up 1/2 dozen carbons
adjust the nock. No doubt at all about hitting game. The wood and finish on the bow was great. Would have liked to have gotten it a week earlier or kept it an additional week for 3D shoots. But, I,m hoping Mike gets to take it on his hunting trip. I don't know what else to say. Nice looking bow shoots well and wouldn't mind putting it with my other bows. Pleasant to shoot, no noise and with carbons probably fast. Of course I shooting woodies, it still was zinging them. Thanks again George
Steve
Thanks for taking the time to review the pass around bow . To bad about the weather you had.Sounds like your friend Ray shot good with it .It was good talking with you on the phone.

OK finally got back home and got some time to test this bow. I did not take the bow on my antelope hunt as someone mentioned - i was really shooting my Habu well and did not want to mess with that a couple days before my first trad hunt.
So i will break this down into a couple categories:
Grip
The grip was way too big for my and what i am used to shooting. The riser is wide and the grip is comfortable just not for me. I did have a friend shoot the bow and he really liked the bow - so this is truely preference only.
Draw
The draw on this bow was very smooth and did not stack at all to my 30" draw length. I would have no problem shooting this bow with my 30" draw, even though it was only 60".
hand shock
accuracy
when shooting this bow at 20 yds and under i found the bow to be VERY consistant. i was amazed at how well i was able to group my arrows with this bow. All of these shots were with fletched 5575's. When i went out past 20 yds i was not able to shoot this bow consistantly - i am attributing this to the very light weight of the bow and my shooting skill level. someone that could shoot consistantly would probably have no problem. i would need the bow to be much heavier to by consistant for me - i am comparing this weight to Habus and Schafers that use ebony and cocobola woods.
noise
although the bow was not loud by any means - i would not classify it as quiet. The bow kind of reminded me of my widow and has a very distinct "crack" on the shot. maybe with some bow hush and or velcro on limbs it could be made more quiet.
fit/finish
This is a difficult category for me - the bow is well built and finish looks good. I would not put it in the category of a Habu, schafer, or Tall Tines but the bow is half to a quarter of the cost!! So when you do a fair comparison this bow is built well for the money. I would not use the gloss finish on my bow, but i am sure george was trying to make it "pretty" for a pass around.
Overall
This is a well built and solid bow. I am positive that with more time to play this bow could be made quiet and is obviously a consistant shooter. I would order this bow in a very dense wood to make it heavier and also look for a more slim line grip.
Thanks for the opporunity to play with this bow - bow is on the way back to George.
