Title: Economical Longbows
Post by: the_real_DBCooper on April 16, 2012, 05:12:00 PM
Hi,
Im looking to buy my first new longbow, and im looking for some economical options. Ive been scouring the classifieds, but im looking for more like the Omega line of bows.
$235 for the complete. Are there any more bows of this quality in this price range that im missing?
 Thanks

Stik bows by don dow are high quality and run around 289 new with black glass. I would seriously look at them.

Sorry, can't help you with your question but did want to comment on your handle.  I wonder how many people even recognize the name DB Cooper?  One of those mysteries that will likely never be discovered.

Definitely look at Don Dow.  The little extra is very much worth it.  IMO, pound for pound the best bow for the money.

X3 on Don Dow. I have a 54" and it is a quick, quiet little bow. You will not be disapointed.

So where is all the money Mr. Cooper?????

I would go with Kegans Omega myself if your in the market for a hybrid. Very radical limbs, but super bow, but it def does not have a longbow look

In the Columbia river.

If the poster had it he would be buying something totally different!

Mike at Mad Dog makes some amazing bows. The other bow I would look at would be a Bear Montana Longbow. For around $300 it is a great performer and is pretty easy on the eyes as well.

The "Real DB Copper" wouldn't be concerned with buying an economical bow.... then again he might have been a poor investor.   :biglaugh:

sorry.... couldn't resist that.

Whisperstik Voodoo is a great bow for the value.

hard the beat Kegan's Omega. my 40#er shoots heavier arrows better than my 50# Fox that cost 4 times as much. Fox is a sharper looking bow but the Omega out performs it.

I was in the same spot a week or so ago. Looked at a ton of wood before I went with the Omega, I think it's one of the best values on the market...

I have a Maddog and a new one on order.  He is the way to go, great bows at a great cost!  At my last shoot, many other shooters were interested in my Maddog MUTT.

Those Omegas look nice. I once had a Don Dow longbow, still regret selling it.
Maddog's are excellent bows,too.

Since I bought a Greatree Solo Black 68" longbow my customs have been gathering dust. For less than $150 new I figured it would be a good "beater" bow but has quickly become my favorite bow to shoot. I've shot a lot of longbows and this one shoots just as nice as any I've tried.
