Title: Youth bow recommendations
Post by: threeunder on April 15, 2012, 09:10:00 PM
My middle daughter is really starting to get into shooting.  She is 11 and of average build.  Currently she is shooting a Genesis at 20 lbs.
I asked her today about moving to another bow.  I gave her the option of a compound, longbow, or recurve.
Bless her heart, she said, "those compound bows are strange."  LOL
So, I'm in the market for a kids' bow that ain't got wheels and is somewhere around the 25-30 lb range.
With 3 kids, I'd like to keep cost reasonable ($200 or less).
Recommendations?

Mike at Legends Bows makes a great kids bow, I think for about 250.00. Check out his website and call him.

Just got a Spike from Mike Rash.  My daughter is 11 and she loves it.  Mike build a full blown recurve that looks very much like dads.  250 bucks - you cannot beat it.  Let me know if you need more details.

Search for thread "this is what it is all about" for more info and even a pic.

I have a bow but may be too large for her...I bought for my daughter when she was 13.....37#@24 and is 64" long...daughter was tall for her age.  I would let it go for $125 if you wanted it...

Though I think a smaller bow would be better....or maybe a 52" Browning recurve around 40# at 28 should be about right for her.  Can pick one up for $75-150 usually that is in really good shape.
