Over the years I've often been asked if I have you ever considered building a string follow bow. To which I have always said no, because I just didn't see what the advantage would be. Well, I finally capitulated and have built a couple string follow Hill style bows Now I know why some many traditional bowhunters have been bugging me! I guess I can sum it with in three simple words, stable, accurate and traditional. What's really impressive is the fact that little is sacrificed in arrow speed. I've moved the handle forward in the bow, similar to the old reverse handle bows to enhance the traditional lines. Recently I was talking to a good friend about how classic lines of this bow when strung and we both had the same thought as the same time. In need of a new bow name for this model I've dubbed it the "Classic." Here it is.
You must be teasing us with no pick. I love my string follow and if I get another longbow it will also be string follow. There is no precived speed loss but alot of stability added.

Nice looking bow and design,a string follow with a mild reverse handle!
Great looking bows with some sweet veneers. Good luck with the "Classic". :archer:
I think your Classic is about to become a classic  Great looking bow, That will please many who love a good Old fashioned longbow, well done :notworthy: :notworthy: !!
BEAUTIFUL!!!!! You have outdone yourself there, you should be proud, and you are also a very blessed Bowyer. God Bless
wow, I just checked your website out (first time) I am in the market for a new longbow and your prices are very competitve. Im adding you to the wish list. Thank you for posting
Very nice!
Sorry about the issues with sentence structure in my posting today! Guess I've been so excited about getting the new bow info out that I failed to thoroughly proof read my writing before hitting the send button! Think you get the gist though...
Thanks,
Allen
No matter how you word it Allen, it looks like a winner! I'm looking forward to shooting one.
Dave:
Sounds good, see you Saturday. This model is a fun to shoot and I think you'll be impressed with the performance. I know I am.
WOW, I like it!!!
WOW !!!!!!!
Just Beautiful Allen !!!
Guys and Girls ... if you want a bow that has the best build quality I have ever seen , Liberty bows is the go !!!
Looks good, but that is not a surprise.
Pete
Allen, as usual, your workmanship is top grade. Gorgeous bows.
Congratulations on coming out with a new model!
As usual Allen, great looking bow.
Allen's bows have always delivered in performance and looks and I have had a few. Will be watching for more owner reports on this one as they are all talking about string follow Hill style bows being the ultimate.
Beautiful bows!
Nice bow Allen - I also have a Chief that I should thank you for, just an awesome bow.
Allen sent you an e mail to your website address
Bob
Allen, I have a Tiger and two Contenders, whats one more! Where's my tax rebate!
Allen, so glad you are "back in the game"!
my Chief is a great source of pride, and an awesome bow.
new bow looks great!
If it shoots like my Chief and Edge (and I'm sure it will)it will be a great success.....Very nice.....
The only bow I've hunted with for the past 5 years is my Liberty English...absolutely love it! I've said that my next new bow will be a string follow design.
Allen, you've really gone and done it now!
Allen, do you have any turkeys done there that we could try one out on?! ;)
Dandy!
I love the color combos. Great work.
Allen, how about more pics of the belly and back veneers and those tips and overlays! Any chance you will attend Compton's this year?
Looks like it a natural extension of the archer. Pure simplicity and grace. Oh boy, the wait times are going jump now.
Dave:
Most of the turkeys around here seem to stay down in the valley. We do have a couple of hens hanging around the house though, so there might be some Tom's coming in the future!
Mike:
I doubt that I can make it back to Compton's this year, but would like to sometime in the near future. Last time I checked they had a vendor waiting list so I probably wouldn't be able to display anyway.
PS, I didn' post the pics, Bob did that for me. I'll be adding some more to my website in the near future and these bows will be included.
Excellent bows ive shot a few.
Thanks Allen. I'll watch for those. Compton's has a new vendor coordinator as of last year I think. Maybe they have more room now?
Allen,
Do you plan to offer "tempered bamboo limbs"?
Larry :archer:
P.S.:
How much string follow will these bows have?
It looks like about 1/2"-3/4".
Larry:
I'd have to do some research to see where I can find tempered bamboo. That might be a good option to consider in this and my English model. And, "real bamboo" sure would look nice under clear glass.
Laying a straight edge on the belly side of the bow and intersecting the top and bottom string groves the string follow is about an inch.
Allen,
Thanks for the reply.
Larry
P.S. I have a couple of Northern Mist Sheltons, (string follow Hill style bows) in tempered bamboo. Smooth on the draw and peanut butter brown colored limbs. Two of my fav's
Lookin foreward to trying this one out.
Allen, I have always been a fan of your workmanship and in fact look to your bow work as the standard to live by. You have outdone yourself with this bow though. I believe a bow that looks that great has to shoot that great. Nice job!!!
God bless you, Steve
I put a few arrows through this new string follow and it is accurate and stable. Typical Boice quality craftsmanship. When I returned it to Allen this past weekend he showed me a REFINED version. The limbs were much slimmer and the limb tips were much narrower with a petite yew overlay on black glass. The riser was ebony, core was carmalized bamboo, riser had yew overlays front and back. The bow was on it's way to the new owner so I was not able to shoot it. The bow was absolutely stunning. The grip has been slimmed down as well. Overall slimmer, trimmer and more beautiful. Maybe we will see some pic on the website ( I hope) or the new owner will share with us if he visits here. Whoever you are you have a stunning weapon on it's way.
It seems everyone is making a string follow bow ive had2from another bowyer yeah they shoot great soft recoil stable and if allen is making them you canbe sure it will be great myself though id rather have the edge evolved design shoot lighter weight and have more performance and the same stability.h---- im just as thick as ever I still love my Howard hill bows but you cant deny evolution.
I shot Allens Edge at last years Western States Rendevous and can't refute Arrow flynn's comment. I seriously considered an Edge and have a couple of friends that are pleased with theirs but I'm a straight limb guy at heart.
My Edge has a permanent spot on the bow rack! Love that bow. Well balanced, seats in the hand nicely, arrow rests right on top of the hand, even draw and upon release, nice smooth bow with plenty of zip. Really can't fault to it...except it wasn't free! :biglaugh: Well worth the $$ though.
I'm with ya' Snag, really like my Edge.
Received my new Liberty-Classic String follow just about a week and a half now. Time of order and time of receiving bow was very very short. The bow did not disappoint at all. The fit finish and woods are excellent. Limb veneer's are Myrtle, core bamboo, handle or riser Becote[light]with overlays of osage and becote.
Set up bow...let the string loosen a bit and went shooting. The bow shoots very smoothly and points well. The draw-getting to anchor and release are simply a pleasure. One could actually add a few pounds to the draw as the bow is that easy to draw.
Allen has a winner for sure.
I shot one of Allens English longbows for about 2 years. I sure wish I had that bow back. Fit and finish was top shelf and it shot like a dream. I will be getting one of your string follow bows soon Allen. Thank you for making such fine traditional bows....David Raia/ Alabama
Those are some *nice* lookin' longbows Mr. Boice!
Keep up the fantastic work!
Shoot straight, Shinken
:archer2:
I just got back from Western States and shot this bow.
OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!!
Tack driver.
I believe I need an edge to go with my English and chief. The chief gets shot a whole lot more than the english. My daughter shoots her contender well. Good thing TBM quit doing their Traditional deal every spring.
I have to say they've been fine investments.
Its great,to now have a quality bowyer offering the design for those that appreciate it,on the west coast.I think it will really catch on.
Same Boice quality on both the Edge and the string follow. I had shoulder issues and did not shoot either, but wanted to. Every body liked them
Very nice!!!
TTT
Shot one of these at the Western States this past weekend. Very nice
TTT,for those, who may have missed it.
Awesome Allen! Your tigerstripe myrtle is some of the prettiest veneers I have ever seen.
Looks beautiful, have to add to the list, man I need to hit the lottery
I can't stop looking this thread up. :archer:
In talking with Allen about this bow,he seems very excited about it and hopes, others will be too.
hope to shoot one at NALS in a few weeks
