It's time for a R/D longbow & both Herb Meland (Pronghorn) & Marc St Louis (Ironwood) seem like good choices. Marc is closer but Herb has a lot of good press. Do any of you have any advice based on experience with bows from these two bowyers?
Sorry I cannot help you with either, but if I was looking for a R/D bow I would buy an Omega by Kegan McCabe in a heartbeat.
Love my Pronghorn and Herb is a good guy.
I am not familiar with the other fella and this is not intended to mean anything negative about him or his bows.
I have two Pronghorn Longbows and looking to order another one this year.
I have a Pronghorn and you'd be hard pressed to find a better bow.
Don't know the Ironwood brand, but you can hardly go wrong with one of Herb's bows.
I have a Pronghorn T/D.
I am more consistently accurate with this bow than any other I've owned. Really quiet bow too.
I like mine.
Love my T/D Pronghorn!
I'm not famalier with the Ironwood but have several Pronghorn's and am happy with them. Quiet and stable. (and fast)
I love Herb's bows so much I have 18 of them and want to order another. (I haven't tried a 62" one piece yet)
I've owned a couple of pronghorn....great bows especially liked the BOB limbs....

Echo all the comments about the Pronghorn. It's my go to bow and I have a bunch.

I've had a Pronghorn for about 3 weeks (kilt 1 turkey) and you can't have mine. Ever! I'm not even sorry about that. :biglaugh: Nicest bow I have ever shot (I have not shot 'em all). I hope there are other bowyers out there that make bows that feel and shoot as good.
Have shot a couple Pronghorn bows, thye are nice bows. Own a Thunderstick MOAB by Jim Reynolds, there are many great choices in R/D.
I have 2 pronghorns so far and love them. Smooth drawing, fast, and quiet.
I have more Pronghorns than I can shoot. You cant go wrong with one.
I can't speak to the "Ironwood" as I am not familiar with the bow.
I can tell you I've been shooting "Pronghorns" for more than 15+ years and the bows are built for hunting by a great guy. You won't go wrong with a Pronghorn.!
I'm not familiar with the Ironwood, but you can't go wrong with a Pronghorn or Herb.
