I am seriously considering getting myself a new bow and a Morrison is dang near the top of the list. I've shot the Shawnee and absolutely loved it but I don't know the difference between it an any of the other models so I'm looking for input from those of y'all who have shot them. Thanks in advance!
Money you will NOT regret spending!
The cheyenne has a slightly 'fuller' grip & with it's deflexed riser is generally more forgiving than the Shawnee.
They are all absolute screamers, so don't worry about speed issues (except missing high!)
My go-to bow is a 62" 63#@31" Cheyenne with carbon foam limbs. It's very smooth, ridiculously fast & utterly quiet.
I also have a Shawnee (same specs) that is just as quick, but a little more critical of my form.
I have a Morrison 17" ILF wood/phenolic riser. Very well made.
I have 2 Shawnee and a Cheyene and love all 3.
There grips just seem to auto fit my hand!!
Matt you need to come back up and shoot some more. You can shoot her all you like. We'll go stumping the next time.Glad you liked it.
Bob is a great bowyer
I'm shooting one of his risers and love it
I have had them all. I prefer the ILF. It is the same as the Cheyenne riser with options of limb change. My second choice would be a Shawnee with longbow limbs.
I have two favorite bows out of all the ones I've shot and the foam core limb Cheyenne recurve is one of them.
I have a Morrison Shawnee with carbon foam limbs,it smokes an arrow.Great bows!
Wow, tough decision. All if Bobs bows shoot great the final choice would solely be what you like. Great bows from a great bowyer.
I have a Shawnee and absolutely love it. If you love it, then buy it and shoot it. Life is short; carpe bowum Shawneeum. :)
So considering I can shoot a bulky handle about the same as a smaller handle like my zipper it's safe to say that it doesn't really matter on performance but more on preference?
I recently acquired a Shawnee with Dakota carbon foam limbs and really, really like this little bow. I've owned an older Cheyenne, but am partial to the Shawnee.
I have an ILF 17" riser with foam core recurve limbs, size "Long". I don't have much to compare with, but I really enjoy shooting the bow. Smooth draw and a quiet shot. Beautifully made to boot. Seems to send off arrows with a good bit of speed too.
Bob was a pleasure to work with.
Yes it is a preferance thing. You can get a small steamlined grip on any of Bobs bows. You can get low,low/medium,medium or high wrist. You can get the grip custom made by sending in something to copy.I have grip on my Shawnee B riser that is unlike any other grip I have seen on a Morrison. Its like a Dale Dye but slighlty lower.
Some like the Shawnee and some like the Cheyenne.I have had quite a few of both the Shawnee and Cheyenne and currantly have 3 ILF risers that are like the Cheyenne riser and also a Shawnee riser.
I like the Shawnee paired up with carb/foam longbow limbs.Mines a B with E limbs. Its a great shooter especially for a longer draw in this configuration. The shawnee riser is more straight up and down vs the deflex of the cheyenne or ILF riser
The Cheyenne and ILF with the deflex riser is superb with recurve limbs IMO.
All the Morrison risers are very versaitile with the multiple limbs lengths available to mate to them and you get 3 riser choice lengths in the Shawnee or Cheyenne and even more length choices with the ILF risers.I got 15 inches,17" and 19" in the ILF riser and may try a 13 inch mini in the future if I want a really short brush/blind bow.
You get alot of riser material choices as well from all phenolic,phenolic/wood,wood or all diamondwood or actionwood etc.Or aluminum in the ILF
X2 what steelhead said
I have five Shawnees and two ILF's. I like all of them. Beautiful, smooth and fast. I'ts easy to like Bob's bows!

There is absolutely nothing "Bulky" about a Morrison as three pieces go. Slim and sleek.
I've killed a lot of critters with both Shaw and Chey
If I only could have one...it would be a Chey. I just like that deflex riser a little better.
I'll have to ad to TJ's post....no bulky risers in the Morrisons I've owned and seen.
I had a bunch of kill pics on Bob's page a few years ago, but when he changed his web page they disappeared.
Cheyenne with carbon foam limbs
OMGosh what a combination
OK....not to go against AW....but I've shot both foam and carbon and foam and glass...and really preferred the foam and glass.
If I ever get another, it will be another chey with foam and glass.
Bob Morrison is the best. I own four Cheyenne recurves and one Shawnee recurve. I agree that the Cheyenne is a little more forgiving but both are fast and quiet. I highly recommend Morrison bows.
I have 2 Mini 13" ILFs and a 15" ILF coming this week from WRV. I also have a A Shawnee in the mail that was checkered by Dave. Plus I just ordered a set of Actionboo ILF Longbow limbs with Cocobolo overlays and Kudu tips this week. Barb and Bob are great people to deal with.
I have a 15 inch woood ILF riser by bob and I love it. I go through bows like most go through socks, and I will not sell my riser!!!!
I have 4 Shawnee's and one Dakota at the moment. Sold all the wood one's and only have phenolic and foam/glass and foam/carbon. I've shot em all and will give up my Morrison's when they pry my dead cold fingers from the riser! To top it all off Bob and Barb are two of the finest you'll ever meet.
Love em all!
I have 7 Morrisons and love all three models - ILF, Cheyenne and Shawnee. Bob and Barb are the great couple everyone says they are. I have all the limb material combinations and prefer the foam/carbon.

Ok, I'll add my very subjective 2 cents worth. I've owned 7 Morrisons. Cheyenne's, Dakota's and Shawnee's. I have enjoyed the heck out of each of them. I sold some to get the weights and lengths I preferred. I currently own a 64" Shawnee (A riser w/ F limbs) that have the older Dakota styled limbs.. The bow shoots a 550 grain arrow at 195 FPS ( 52#@29" draw). So, they are no slouch in the performance department. This bow is also butter smooth and whisper quiet. If I had to pick something negative to say about it, it would be the Shawnee is a little sensitive to form issues. If you have rock solid form, this bow will stack them in the 10 ring all day long. Thats not the bow's fault so I guess that isn't really a fair critique either. Bob Morrison's craftsmanship is impeccable and his bows are sleek and sexy to boot! Bob & Barb are some of the best people I've ever had to deal with so if that isn't enough to convince you that buying a Morrison bow is a good choice, nothing will!

The lack of much deflex in the Shawnee riser gives a little extra speed but decreases the stability some in your hand if your form is not as good. I guess that is why I am willing on most bows to sacrifice some speed for the deflexed riser that is not so sensitive to the way I hold the bow and release the string. But I own and love both the Shawnee and the deflexed models (Cheyenne and ILF). You couldn't pick a nicer combination for smooth shooting than the A riser and the F limbs. I, however, would pick the A riser and the E limbs as my favorite because it is a little shorter and darn near as nice feeling. The D limbs are what I shoot the most, and I even have one set of C limbs, although I am really stretching them with my 29.5" draw (still, a 56" Morrison is great for tight spots).

I have owned more than a few of each 3 piece model. If I were to pick just one it would be an all phenalic cheyene with foam cores and glass with no carbon. Smooth and quiet.
There is always at least one Morrison in my stash.
MY NEW MORRISON PHOENLIC ILF WITH BOBS NEW MAX 1 STATIC LIMBS ARE THE BOMB,FASTEST THING I HAVE EVER OWNED.
I have shot the Ilfs for the last five years great bows. I would like to see Bob do a one piece recurve in 54 to 60" offering.
I will call and see if that might be in the future.
For those of you who have Morrisons ILF risers ..is your bow easy to quiet?
Ive been looking at his gen3 metal ILF.
I ve been toying with the idea of a Daala but am unsure on the riser length 17 or 21. Morrison's is right in the middle at 19 inches.
Im just trying to find something that has a lot of versatility. And a Daala or other ILF riser seemed to be the ticket.
Id like to start with very light limbs. And then move up to something higher when ready to hunt. Ive hunted for 32 years with compounds and want a different challenge.
Eventually Id love a takedown like a Cheyenne But no sense in that until i learn to shoot.
Am I going about this the wrong way?
