very nice
Looking really good there. Love those dogwoods.
Sweet looking arrows fellas.
I really like that primitive 76'r :p
I better get busy,
That's just too cool! On the same path. Thanks for sharing!!!
Cool arrows!
I wish I took pics while we were building. We being mostly Kevin :bigsmyl: He drilled out the nock end and made a hardwood nock that inserted into the arrow and was tuneable to the shaft! I hope Chuck gets busy with some blanks, I can't hardly pull that old hickory bow anymore!
I'm a comin'
I'm a comin'
What is the poundage of the bow you are shooting them out of?
charles
the ol bear 76er is around 40#s @ 28
and the self bow has gotta be 70-80#s @ 28
i cannot even draw it close to 28 in
Thanks. I have a lot of red osier, but they will only spine out to about 35-40 lbs. Just wondering on your spine.
How long did you have to let those shafts dry?
Dan
Nice looking set up.
We need to set up a spine checker station. I'll let Kevin tell about the harvest and drying part of the arrows.
mike
i have the spine testing covered for now
just checked some of the shafting i have straight most is 400-500 spine with some @ 600+
i cut the shafts back in the begining of december and kept it bundled together in my heated garage till a couple weeks ago and the stripped the bark
I really wish I had gone and cut some when you did Kevin.
Right now I am eyeballing some kind a bush in my yard that has some pretty hard, heavy and straight branches. I trimmed a pile of em off last fall and might beable to pull a few out of my burn pile. I will have to see about it.
You boys done good,
Treedancer and his 6yr. old grandson, The Buck, Went to the camp today and "took a walk on the wild side"
I bet they had a blast. That boy will tucker 5 grown men when it comes to shooting his bow.
CTT
Pretty good looking set up you have there. Where is the hunt going to be at?
  :clapper:
Reakl cool stuff.
Mike Vines,
My friend the TreeDancer has a camp in the northern lower. He finished his cabin last year and has offered to host us for a day or two of hunting this fall. He calls it "The Red Arrow Club"
Should be a hoot,
Should be a hoot :p I hope to have something to add to the hunt also. A secret admirer has "promised" to send some primitive materials to work on. :bigsmyl:
chuck

this primitive arrow makin is just too much fun
Another thing Chuck. Quit trying to get me to model the combination wool loincloth and Depends for you! :nono:
a wool loincloth?
i think thatd itch
Do you think they will cure in time to make into arrows?
I think the bush trimmings are gonna be ok, I will try to get some out this weekend and see what I have to deal with. I cut them last summer.
chuck
when it stops rainin and blowin ill get those shafts cut and they should be plenty dry to use this year
Cool beans,
Did the mail man come today KH??
I hope he came to KH's house. He came to mine! Hope to have pics in a day or two unless KH beats me to it! Thanks Treedancer!!!
