I was just curious as to how much everyone shoots on average. I generally try to shoot at least 200-300 arrows a week. Only reason I don't get more time in is because I don't have enough daylight for more than a few dozen arrows after I get off work. What's yalls average?
Not As Much As I Should! :(
I try to shoot a few dozen everyday. However because of shooting a heavier bow recently, I am attempting to cut back to every other day or until the tendonitis subsides. Getting older is not fun!
Almost every day, either outside or inside or both.
It may only be a half dozen shots but I think it's important to try to get my shots in.
God bless,Mudd
usually 500-600 arrows a week. I have a large back yard and shoot well into the dark with the porch light on. Range is closer, say 10 yards, 15 max but I figure its just training for low light hunting conditions. :D

Sounds like I need to step it up. Guess I'll be buying a light. lol
I try to shoot everyday. Sometimes I shoot 50-100 arrows and other days I shoot as little as 1 or 2. Like Mudd said I thinks its important to try and shoot daily.
I try to shoot for about 15 minutes a day. I find that for me this works best. I don't really shoot alot of arrows, just one at a time, but I really focus on the whole shot process.
Pretty much everyday throughout the year. Outside if it's nice or in the basement. I'm not shooting as many as arrows as I use to but a solid 20 each day.
I shoot everyday. Either inside or outside and sometimes as little as 6 arrows.
I try to shoot most days. Probably around 20-30 arrows each time out. Some days a lot more, just depends on my schedule for the day.

It is a rare day that I don't get 60-100 arrows in. The weather has to be really crappy or I am out of town. I try to keep it up throught the season too.
D.P.a
I try to get in 30 shots or so a day. Been having a crick in my neck for over a week now, so haven't been able to shoot.
Sounds like some of you really put some time in. Is this target shooting or stumping or maybe a combonation of both?
I shoot about 5 times a week and between 100-200 arrows each time.
I shoot once a week in the winter, when I only have access to a range once a week (apartment dweller).
In the summer 2-3 times per week, usually no more than 40 or 50 arrows (usually one at a time for focus.)
Almost everyday.....sometimes for 20 minutes, sometimes for an hour. On days I go stumping or to a 3-D that's winds up several hours. Anytime you get a chance is my motto!! :archer2:
ron- I like your motto. I actually have a takedown longbow being built and plan on carrying it in my truck for any unsuspecting oppurtunities that may arrise.
I also shoot nearly every day. I'm more likely to shoot multiple times daily than not shoot at all. I work at home and have 3 ranges available: Lower level indoors, backyard, 1/4 mile 3-D trail between my son's and my house.
Sometimes I simply shoot 6-12 shots for about 10 minutes. Other times I'll shoot for 90 minutes or so. The vast majority of my outdoor shooting these days is at 30 yards as I try to figure out a couple of things to make 20 and under as automatic as realistically possible. The 30-yard shooting magnifies something I'm working on.
This site is the only thing that's going to keep my archery addiction fed for the next three weeks as I won't even be able to touch one of my bows.
I try to shoot everyday..
I for sure get in at least 5 days a week
30+ arrows at least 5 days a week. Often more. I've been going more "quality" than "quantity" lately. Focusing on form and doing quite a bit of close blank bale shooting.
I try to get at least 25 Arrows a Day. Either inside or out at Home. If at the Range, I will shoot a Full Indoor Competition Round, 2 if my body is cooperating! :goldtooth:
none, since January 1st, damn tendonitis elbow, just wont heal. when I am able to start back, I am going to shoot like Rick Welch taught me, one arrow at a time, 100 % focus on entire shot routine, and shoot every arrow from a differant spot.
I shoot just about everyday year round.
I shot competitively as a hoyt sponsored shooter back in my training wheel days and my coach always stressed to never fling arrows just to fling arrows. He was much happier if I only shot 100 arrows a day if they were GOOD arrows. Bad practice makes for bad form and a bad archer so when I do shoot no matter how many it is I always try to make each shot a good arrow, fully concentrating on the shot. If I catch myself flingin arrows or unable to concentrate because of whatever I put the bow down and come back later when I am not rushed, stressed, or unable to concentrate. A little bit of good practice is a lot better than a whole bunch of bad practice so dont get hung up on how many arrows you sling downrange but how many GOOD arrows you drill the target with. My regards, great thread, FUDD
Most everyday 30 minimum - weekends 60-90 arrows...
So 200-300 a week.....April - Novemeber...

Some weeks I shoot everyday some weeks maybe I will only shoot one day during the week but I shoot almost every weekend! I never try to shoot a certain number, time or quantity of time or arrows. I shoot until I am content, tired or the wife yells DINNER time :bigsmyl:
I try every day. I have gone a day without but I feel there is something missing. Much like riding my motorcycle. I will get down right ornery. Wife says, "go do something!" I have yet to ride and shoot but that is what the takedown is for!!!!

about 30 arrows a day
Not enough let's just say last night was very humbling after a long semester in school.
I have been shooting a lot, maybe an hour or so in the morning and another half hour/3/4 hour at night. Now with my second bow I have to make sure the other one doesn't get jealous. Seriously, I'm trying to decide which to take after turkeys.
But I've been shooting so much I had to take today off because 1. my arms are rubber and 2. all of sudden I couldn't hit the side of the mountain I live on and my brain was starting to overload on dropping the bow, plucking the string, wiggling, collapsing, pushing, pulling, back tension and arrows going every which way.
Backing off a tad.
I shoot at least every other day...sometimes every day. Usually only shoot 10 to 40 arrows. Or if i can tell i'm getting tired, i throw in the towel.
I agree with Mudd it is important to get my arrows in.
Just another reason why I love and BELIEVE in Trad hunting to continue the tradition of ethical hunting.
I would like to see this many wheelie shooters step up and say they practice their hearts out this much.
Try to shoot every day. Some days morning and afternoon. I shoot anywhere from 75 to 200 or so per session.
If I don't shoot regularly my old muscles get weaker.
I shoot just about everyday that the weather is nice and I'm not traveling for work.
I probably shoot too much during each session and sometimes that puts me in a rut. If I'm not shooting well, I just can't quit on a bad group. So I keep shooting until I get a good group and sometimes that just makes me shoot worse and worse. But I can't help it, I just have to keep shooting. Shooting is an addiction that is sometimes bad for me.

Same here. But my trick for getting that last rubber-armed good group is to set up at 18 yards or so, on a knee or both knees and draw very slowly like I don't want to spook something and it usually works.
My wife get a hoot out of imitating me, "That's ... just... NOT... acceptable!!!"
I guess I am kind of lucky we have a archery shop close by with an indoor range out to 40 yards.
Open Monday thru Saturday, get there 3-4 days a week shooting the bow and the Bull.
I TRY TO SHOOT EVERY DAY AFTER I DO THE J O B THING
I shoot about 30-40 arrows a day, I guess. For me, shooting is a great way to release tension (no pun intended) for a few minutes.
2-5 times per week.
I dont count my arrows but usually stop when I know Its time. it can be after 1 arrow or after 100.
Some nights like tonight, I dont bother because I know I wouldn't be able to focus after a tough day.
I only shoot every other day, between 150-200 at a go. I've been thinking about cutting back the number of shots, and doing 1-2 dozen into a bare bale on my off days.
Very good thread, glad you posted it!
Thom
Try to hit the woods at least 2-3 times weekly for about 2-3 hours worth of pine cone & stunted wild bush eradication. Might set up a 15 yard daily target here before long?
I'm erratic. I shot twice a week during January, February and March. Since April has arrived, I haven't shot at all this month.
Archery is only one of my two main hobbies. In other words, since I live close to the upper Texas coast, the flounder have been calling me and I've been answering their call. :D
Almost every day. I probably shoot too much. Just can't help myself!
i hate to go long periods without shooting at all, But that's rare for me. You loose your strength a lot quicker as you get a bit older if you don't keep it up. This time of year i shoot 60-100 arrows a day right in the shop using my own bows, and i always get a bit more exercise tuning the bows I'm building too....
I'd love to spend more time on my range, but this eternal rain makes it tough to enjoy.
3-4 days a week depending on the weather. Alternate between shooting RH and LH, roughly 50 arrows per session.
I try to shoot everyday even if it is as few as 12
Sometimes when I can't shoot I will visualize shooting or use a non-elastic "String Bow" loop of string to practice form. In fact, when I shoot my bow I pretend it is the loop of string and when I shoot the String I pretend it is the bow. Process over results.
I shoot everyday.. Maybe 20-40 shots.
Almost always only one arrow and from differing ranges for each shot. Always working on one aspect of form or another..
A lot everyday, inside or outside depending from the weather.
Sometimes only once or twice a week, mostly nearly every day. I favor stumpin', even if it's 10 or 15 minutes out behind the shed. Favorite is 1/2 hour or more roving. Puts my head in a much better place.
Target shooting, I usually shoot 3 arrows per round, anywhere from
3 shots to a few dozen. I often avoid shooting if I know my concentration is off. I'd rather shoot fewer arrows better, than shoot just to shoot.
Also shoot year 'round, though in winter it's usually just a few arrows.
Wow really jealous of you guys that get to shoot everyday.
school is such a bummer!!
Everyday mostly. Sometimes only 6 or 8, some days 6 or 8 dozen.
Two or three times a week at least, sometimes more.
I try to get out 400 arrows per week. Quality is more important then quantity in any case. Flinging arrows just to say you shot a certain number isn't going to help all that much.
Wind, snow, clear or cloudy, I am out everyday unless i'm away from home. Work in a good, long walk in the forest with stump shooting as much as i can. Following knee replacement and reconstructive foot sugery, the walking and shooting have kept me woods worthy.
I try for 15 to 20 minutes a day, only shooting one arrow at a time. Knowing that i have just one shot, seems to help me pick a spot and follow thru better.
I shoot daily. Anywhere from 20 to 60 shots, depending on light, etc.
I shoot almost every day, 100-200 arrows a time occasionally I shoot 50 more.
Some days just for form, other days for accuracy. I need a lot of practice!! I've been working on the Hill/Shultz style :dunno: method for the last year and a half with some advise from good Hill style shooters.
On average 4-5 days per week.50-60 arrows per day
Every day , 50 to 70 shots . I use one arrow . It's how I unwind from work.
Almost daily, 24 to 32 arrows. Blind bale and stumping.
During hunting season, almost every day. But here lately, about 2 or 3 days a week.
I try to shoot at least 5 times per week. I practice for 30-45 minutes, one arrow at a time, and shoot it as though I'm shooting at the big one. I guess it winds up to being 25-30 good quality shot arrows don't really count the number. Also go to the woods stumpin once a week.
50 to 75 shots every day, only outside ...
unless when work don't allow it.
I shoot as often as I can. I take quality over quantity. If I am off, a
Nd it does not get better, I quit rather than reinforce bad habits
I average 3-4 times per week, 20-30 shots.
Not nearly as much as I would like to. I wish I had more time.
It depends on my work schedule but I try to shoot 2-3 times a week and about an hour or two each time. Ive been shooting more this year because I got some new arrows and I've been playing around with point weights and shaft lengths. its amazing what these carbon arrows can do with just a little change here and there.
Pretty much every day unless I am sick or out of town. Normal day shooting would probably be 50-75 arrows, I honestly don't count. On days when I get to work from my home office I may shoot as many as 200 arrows because whenever I get frustrated with work I step out back and releive some stress one arrow at a time.
Every couple of days, at times 2-3 days straight then I make myself take a break for a couple of days , I come back strong. .. I can over shoot and it does more harm than good
A BUNCH!
Bisch
Probably too much! I love to shoot but I don't really shoot well if I shoot alot. :archer2:
I shoot pretty much everyday, day or night, it's a great stress relief for me;)
