Back in December I asked Curt(Idahocurt) of Hunter Bows to make me a special recurve. But those that know me know that I usually dont buy a bow until I shoot one first. Curt said no problem. He sent me a brand new bow to test out. I was impressed. So the details began. We had the woods and such picked out and was waiting for the foam to come in when Curt threw in a wrench. I originally picked out black walnut for my riser. Well Curt got a call from a guy about some special walnut that is kinda hard to get. It's called Bastogne Walnut. Knowing Curts excellent choice in woods I told him to have at it and make the bow. So after about 20 emails and as many calls my bow began.
Ok, on 3-9-12 I reported that my new bow was on it's way. Well, because of a minor issue, there was a brief delay. Curt is a perfectionist and decided he wanted to make me a new set of limbs. I didn't mind waiting. Fast forward to this past Saturday.
Now, the original limbs were some crazy looking veneers but Curt did not have any of those left. He said those words-"Mike,trust me.I have some veneers that will knock your sock off". Again I told Curt to have at it. I would have never expected what I received in the mail this past Saturday. Thanks Curt, you did good bud.
I like to put names on my bows that relate to the Marine Corp. This one would be no different.
Folks, meet Iwo Jima!!!

Mike, I've been there!(Iwo Jima) Would love to see your bow too! Curt has some mad skills and a crazy wood selection! Your a lucky Marine!
Congrats on the new bow. I can't wait to see more pics of it.
The specs: 60" recurve,RH, 58@28. Bastogne Walnut riser, curly koa on the front, myrtle veneers on the limbs with carbon and foam cores. It absolutely smokes an arrow and is as quiet as a church mouse. Enjoy!

Those limbs and tips are very nicely done...
she's a knock out!
Man, that's nice. I like the "limb attachment system". Very clean lines and the woods are beautiful.
:archer:
Those book matched veneers are real nice, great craftsmanship. I also like the limb attachment system. I thought it was a one piece at first and then was wondering were the heck are the bolts, real slick. Not a big fan of limb bolts but that system may turn me onto a 3 piece.
Great Craftsmanship...! the wood choices are outstanding...!!
Beauty bud :clapper:
Congratulations. Beautiful bow, as always. Curt's recurves and longbows are outstanding.
What a gorgeous bow! I hadn't looked at the Hunter bows before but just spent some time there drooling over all of his bows and sent an email with some questions. This could be dangerous to my budget!
Nice bow.

That's exactly how it happened to me Joe. You see the final result. :bigsmyl:
Wow Leatherneck, that is an incredible bow! Those limb laminations are unbelievable and the tips or gorgeous too! Definitely a keeper. Curt is the walnut guru of trad bows I think. Never was a big fan until he started showing the real potential in that wood....phenomenal!!!
That is one sick bow!!!
Fabulous recurve right there!
