Is there a story to go along with this? Congrats
Awesome bird!
What part of the state were you hunting that looks just like a eastern bird with the brown tips. Maybe it's just the pic!
Excellent work if you shot that bird from the ground with no blind. I to would like to hear the story :D

Story? Well, he was charging me, FULL STRUT!!! He was strutting. About 16 yards, I thought he was broadside but, he was quarting slightly toward me. The arrow entered the armpit, just under the wingbone (one blade cut the bone) and exited just over the right leg. He went about 15 yards to some plum brush, with his wings out and then laid down and kicked out. I knew it was a good hit when he tried to run with his wings out for support. I would love to tell you that I belly crawled up on him in buffalo grass 2" tall but, I was in my Double Bull T5 which is another story, I can shoot my 60" Widow out of it fine but, The 62" longbow is very difficult. The day before I shot at a gobbler at 6 yards and my top limb hit the roof of the blind and I sent the arrow half way to Oklahoma. I had to learn to lean over forward and really cant the bow. Even doing that I have to shoot about 90 degrees out the window. Can't lean left or right much. Next time I will try making a natural blind. Does anyone know if they still make a Double Bull Recurve model?
very nice bird! congrats
Great Pic! Congratulations

Great story Hawk. Yes they still make a recurve model. I bought one last year and have no trouble shooting 62 inch bows out of it.

You need to tell more stories. That one is good. Very nice bird & setup! Well done!
Congrats! Awesome bird!
Sorry Doubleo, forgot to mention that his spurs are just over one inch and he has a 9 inch beard. I didn't weigh him but I was guessing 21-22lbs. (a weighed bird quits growing, so I don't weigh 'em!) I was guessing a 3 year old? Not big compared to an Eastern but, I am glad to get him and he tasted great!
