Want to go out and shoot my bow? I can listen to Indian flute music and be taken far, far away in my mind to a deep forrest that is filled with deer, elk, wild turkey with beautiful rivers and streams;makes me wonder why this style of music is so "enchanting"; anyone else have the same experience?
:campfire:
I do also. As does my wife who has her own flute and plays it while on the hill under a tree.
I'm a fan...and I play some, on a couple flutes I have. I think it's one of those "spiritual" type instruments...summoning up memories of elk bugles, coyote howls, lonesome windblown pines and high windy ridges. It's soulful, not unlike taking out that selfbow and shooting, while dreaming of hunting.
I feel the same way about Native American flute music. Now the Peruvian variety makes me want get the AR-15 out and find the culprit!
I often put in some Indian flute when I am driving to a stand to hunt. I find it helps calm me down 9especially after a day of dealing with 7th and 8th graders) so I am calmer and more focused when I hit the woods.
never heard it
Any links to hear some?
Very beautiful music, sometimes haunting. You can find a bunch here:

I love native american flute music. I also have a few CD's of flutes with drums that I enjoy.
My wife used to use an Indian flute cd to get our daughters to take naps when they were little. She would lay them down fussing and put on the cd,as soon as they heard it they would settle right down and be snoozin' in a few minutes. I think the name of the cd was Journeys of the flute.
Thanks
One of my favorites is Mary Youngblood playing solo flute. The whole album was recorded in an underground cavern in California. The acoustics are spectacular.
Native American flute music really goes straight for the Spirit and always makes me want to shoot my bow. :archer2:

I am the same way. I also find that I shoot better after listening to flute music. I think it helps to calm you down after a long day at work.
I love it as well.
so much so that I gave my girlfriend my first hand made flute for her birthday last year.
she later surprised me with a concert one afternoon from the same man who inspired me to try and produce a flute. It was really great to hear his music in person rather then other means
I really enjoy Navajo Flute music. Wife and I were in Arizona last year ,ended up in Paige Arizona and took a tour of the slot canyons.WOW! Our Navajo guide played his flute all through the canyon! absolutely , calming, soothing, and spiritual. :campfire:
I like the South American Indian flute music. It is real primal, but relaxing and amazing how good it sounds.
Check this out from our very own Daniel Yononindo!

For me there is absolutely no difference between taking some of natures bounty and making a weapon to feed me physically or taking some to feed me spiritually. The music takes me to the same place that bow hunting takes me. If anybody has any interest in flutes, feel free to PM me.
Some of mine

Aye,for me its bagpipes, stirs something ancient in my soul.
Living on the south rim of the Grand Canyon for the past 20 years I have always favored Canyon Trilogy by Carlos Nakai.
When the Elk bed for the day I often do the same and crawl up under a juniper with the flute music in my ears. I then wait for the first bugle of the afternoon to signal its time to once again begin my pursuit.
Sergio did you get into Antelope Canyon? One of my favorites but stay away in our monsoon season it can be fatal.
Why is it that when I hear mariachi music I get hungry?
I love the native flute music as well. I dodnt know why more trad dvd makers dont put it in there stuff. Mark Baker as me thinking now.......
1st time I heard it was at the Grand Canyon. Now, everytime I hear it. It reminds me of that spiritual place.
Brian, those are beautiful flutes!
Old goat...too many trips to the casa bonita conditions you that way... :biglaugh:
In its place its great. There is a weekend traditional shoot I go to every year and for several years in a row there was this long haired older guy who would sit on the hill top and play his flute at 6:30 am. Felt like shooting a quiver full of arrows at him. Fortunately he missed last year!!!!!!
i would have thrown a $20 at him... 6:30 means i drasticly over slept!
