My buddy Troy recently ordered a Static Stalker Recurve from South. When it comes to building a custom bow, we're complete opposites. Personally I could care less what it looks like, I just need it to "shoot". On the other hand Troy wants his bow to be a "masterpiece". When he first showed interest in a Stalker, he drilled me with questions about wood choices. I was upfront with him from the start and told him, "buddy you're talking to the wrong guy, South is the guy you need to be talking to. After an extensive phone call between the two, the collaboration begun.
Here are a few pics that were emailed to Troy from South.

South does all my decisions when it comes to wood choices. :D

Nice job Dude,
South is building my bow right now, also a static, osage and cocobolo riser and cocobolo limbs, should get it in about a month !
Let us know how those static limbs feel. I'm curious if they feel smoother, faster, or quieter, in your opinions.
Your going to have a very nice bow. Nice looking woods.

South sure is a bow artist! And make one of the best grips out there!
That is so awesome. I cannot wait to get mine.
How do the static tips shoot? AMAZING! My buddy KHALVERSON will tell you they shoot arrows like they are lazer guided. I'm extremely happy with mine!
I almost forgot, that is going to be a beauty! It won't be a Green Monster, but a beauty nonetheless!
Chuck here's his cell. 707 496 0136. I'm sure he'll love to chat with you! He's leaving in a day or two for the Pacific Coast Trail so he may be unavailable for a week or so. Steve should be in the shop though.

BY FAR, the nicest looking bow I've seen in a long time. South is putting the pressure on himself with this one. Lucky you Troy!
What wood are the limbs made of? That is the coolest grain design/look I have seen
Joshua,
If I'm not mistaken, the back is Black and White Ebony and the belly is Claro Walnut.
South just emailed me more pics tonight! I usually don't fret over wood choice, but I must admit, I'm JEALOUS!!!

Ryan,I can understand because you are jealous!
WOW!
Back up top for those pics!
Very Nice, Black & White Ebony is my favorite Bow wood, nice grained pieces like that are extremely hard to find. I really like the looks of the Static Limbs, still waiting for South to put them on his 1-piece bows. Hint. Hint. RW

Oh yeah, that would be a sweet one piece bow R.W.!!
No way would that be a great 1 piece! How would you get multiple sets of limbs with different woods that way? :biglaugh:
Lucky!! I could look at that bow all day.
Nice bow.

Don't let this one get buried yet. Back to the top for one more go round!
Beautiful bow! I was also drawn to the BW Ebony from the first picture. I'm having a Sasquatch built. I'm trying to decide between BW Ebony (like RW Mackey's) or Macassar (Billy Shipp).
Thanks for the pictures.
Yep,not only does South build great bows, but his photography skills are top notch too! His Stalkers have the best grip ever!
The bow made it to Hawaii!!!
