Title: hunting arrow help
Post by: 187BOWHUNTER on April 03, 2012, 05:13:00 PM
I have a Stalker Custom Recurves Tracker 40# @ 28' being made now, my draw length is 29" so it will be 42# for me. I need help with a carbon hunting arrow, make, model, spine and length. I want to shoot VPA bh's. Can someone help me with designing the perfect heavy hunting arrow for my bow? I will be shooting off the shelf, Im a noob to trads and dont want to go thru a bunch of trial and error and buying a bunch of different stuff, just want to get the best right out the gate. Thanks, Steve

A CE heritage 250 full length with a 200gr. VPA up front should be close.

I would buy a field tip test kit before I spent the money on a broadheads. Hard to tell what a bow will like.

for a hunting arrow, Id prolly get a Heritage 150 and start at full length. I like the heavier physical weight of those over the gold tip 3555's.

Hey Steve,

Just my $0.02  I'll agree with you on the 150's and maybe 250 up front.  Just got to play around with it.  Good luck!

If you're new the chances are you'll be going to try out a few different bows over the years.

I'd strongly recommend getting a few shafts for testing spines for your current and future bows.
