Well, after much anticipation, my new Silvertip longbow by Dave Windauer was delivered today..as you know, I am a rabid Schafer bow fan. This bow took some time to design, as it mirrors my recurve. Anyhow, the cool thing about the bow is that I had Dave incorporate my now deceased Dads' 1950's camo pants into the bow limbs..As my Dad was instrumental in my love of archery and the outdoors. Dave worked his magic, as always, and added bighorn sheep overlays, and tips, bocote accents, and a low checkered grip. The bow also has Paul Schafers' famous quote scribed on the upper limb. To top the bow off, I had Kim Jessop at Thunderhorn MFG. custom make me a Boa quiver with the same camo material as the insert..And of course it shoots like a Mutha! Outstanding indeed!
Love that quiver too...nice touch!
Thanks for the kind words..this is a very special bow built for killin'...Cisco2, you can bet that the first blood to annoint the limbs will be from a big Ol Kentucky longbeard!
The bow is a 3 piece, 62", 52@27" , solid as a rock!
52@27, my two favorite numbers! LOL
Now that there is a hunting bow
Very cool.
:clapper: Well done! Your dad's camo as part of the bow is a great idea!
I have the matching recurve to this longbow now,and they are both the same weight. They have the same feel, making it easy to switch back and forth.
Love it, great tribute to your father, he would be proud of his legacy. congrats and I also am a fan of Silvertips.
Very Nice!!
This is one of the coolest things I've ever seen! Great tribute to your father and what better way to have him with you every day. Very well done.
Dave
Outstanding! They built "Lila Lou" for me after my Mother passed away. She is going with me to Manitoba this spring to keep me company on a bear hunt.
D.P.
I love the old school camo on the limbs. Very special! :notworthy:
I have seen a definite trend toward guys having their "legacy bow" built. I've contemplated it for years, but the vision is still incomplete.
This bow is a wonderful example of heart and art. We are truly lucky to have such talents as Dave's out there working for us!
Very Nice !!!
Bill
Hey Scott. Very nice bow. Looks like you've got an heirloom there.

Nice! Great idea to incorporate the fabric from your dad's hunting pants.

Wow Scott, that is an awesome Bow! How do you like the longbow?
Awesome, I really like that bow! I can't wait to see a new profile pic of a big old thunderchicken next to this bow!
Very nice! You've guaranteed it will be one of a kind. Surprised that fabric hasn't been used more as a limb lam.
Dave's craftsmanship is hard to beat. Beautiful bow!
That is real cool, Scott! I'm gonna have a commemorative bow built in memory of my dad too!
Great ideas and thanks!
Kenny :bigsmyl:
That's amazing. A keeper for sure
Awesome bow! Congrats!
What a wonderful tribute to your father. Just a gorgeous bow, may it shoot straight and bring back happy memories of time spent afield with your father
Wow! Very nice.
AWESOME!!
What a great idea, like all the rest of those Silvertips very nice!
Sweeet!!!
Hey Scott... Just spotted this. Great bow with much mojo. Enjoy my friend. Look forward to many hero pics. Jeff :clapper:
Another stunning Silvertip! :notworthy:
Dave is a master at what he does. Congrats!
very nice! I sent my silvertip to dave a couple weeks ago to have it completely refinished, grip checkered, weight taken off limbs, and elk antler knobs to match the tips.
It is over 10 years old...and showed signs of use..scratches, nicks, etc...so a facelift was in order...
Right now, until Beth calls...it's like a kid waiting for christmas!
lee
That must one of the most personalized bows I've seen!
Congratulations with an outstanding bow :)
Congrats Scott, a special one indeed! May you find many Sunrises and Sunsets with it :)
I want to thank all of you for the kind words..It was a bow that I had designed in my head for quite a while..Drove Beth and Dave nuts as I "tweaked" the order about 5 times, haha..As all of you know Schafer Silvertips remain at the helm of Trad Archery and Craftsmanship. Dave will work with you and there is no holding back Dave when it comes to trying something different as long as the bows' integrity isnt compromised. The bow shoots great, and has great cast and speed..heck , I may have to order another one...
That is a beautiful tribute to your dad! I love the tip recurve...just don't have the cash for one. Maybe it will be my retirement bow someday. Sure do love his bows!
Truly a work of art...I believe your Dad is smiling down.
George
Well there is room for a one piece recurve. :scared: :scared:
Tukudu ! You read my mind ;)
Cool
Scott if I read another's mind you will be living in a tent behind Eddie's house. Enjoy your stuff my friend, you can look back later :bigsmyl:
:biglaugh:
Awesome Scotty! Just plain awesome!
Timmy, Mike, thanks! Pat, Sergio, Jim, Tom, all of you Schafer Shooters know that they have a special place on the rack and in your heart. Great bows and a lot of history behind them. And thanks to everyone else for the great compliments.
Could be the coolest thing I've ever heard! What an idea Scott, fantastic.

Shot a 3D course here locally today with "The Sneaky Bastid" longbow, and it looks as if the bow and I took first place in the Traditional class...so , she is a shooter!

Beautiful bow and tribute to your father. I really want a Schafer something terrible. I would love to find some camo like that myself as Dave no longer has that particular pattern for use. Flint
