Most are very good about this in the classifieds, but some just seem to refuse to do it right....
Very simple here guys, when your item is sold or traded, please edit the title of the listing...SOLD!
Don't add a post on the end that says "SOLD", or "this item has been sold"....
Don't edit the title to "END", "ENDED, "DONE", "FINISHED", "DELETE" etc....
Just simply edit the title of the item...SOLD
Please help keep this TTT'd
Thanks guys!
Even if you take it off the market or trade it. Just put sold in the title please. Delete doesn't get rid of old posts.
Absolutely right magnus!
How many times have we gone thru a couple pages on an item just to get to the end and find out it's been sold in the last post....that does not help anyone.
No sir it doesn't. Thank you for the reminder!
Noted, and some of the items on the back pages (7,8,9,) should be brought TTT from the seller or removed if they dont want to keep up with it.
That does get you excited and then take the wind out of your sales to find a post at the end of the thread.
TTT
TTT for a great reminder.

Very good reminder...
Awesome way to run classifieds!!
And if you have a deal pending payment, please mark the title SPF until either the buyer submits payment or the deal falls through. That helps us as well.
Oh yeah.....and a picture's worth a thousand words.

TTT
editing a classifieds title to "SOLD" or "SPF" are correct steps in letting potential buyers/traders know the status of the selling/trading item(s).
removing ads from the system are done via a "prune" that gets initiated on or about the first of the month (nope, didn't happen today but will get kicked off next weekend - it takes trad gang down for at least 4 hours).
the "prune" code scours all the classifieds (Except the sponsor classifieds!) and keys in on all threads (topic ads) that have not had a post within 30 days. those threads are marked and deleted from the system, then the entire system gets a "re-sync".
it doesn't matter what the thread/ad title is, if there hasn't been a single post on it for 30 days it will get removed. this will mean that some "SOLD" ad threads will not get removed. they will linger and fall off the main page as long as no one posts on them, and then be removed next month. this may seem like not such a good thing, but we've found that in some instances it's good to have that original ad around for info purposes if there is a problem with a sale or trade.
To help out I might have to list and sell a bow? To the top of the page!

Probably the Jersey guys screwing things up again...

Thanks Curt!
Yes indeed....and that's all the classifieds, bows clothes, quivers, arrows, tree stands and bino's....everything.
Great help for buyers if all would follow this.
Curt, PM sent.

OOPs-My bad-Sorry! Re: The Osage I sold awhile back. Denny
The following link to the sticky at the top of the "Traditional Bows" forum in the classifieds section may be why there is some confusion on editing the title of your ads:
http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=5;t=043900
I think the following statement in the above link could be causing confusion:
".....if an item has been sold, traded, or you just wish to delete it, edit your ad's title appropriately."
TTT.
As per above, edit the TITLE, not a post in the thread. Just went through some items, sold, but only IN the thread, not the title.
Sorry, I have been Guilty of this. I will do right from now on.
Just went into the classies and still see guys not marking "sold"...com'on fellas!!!!!!!!
The thing is, it's long time TG'rs that are still guilty of this....

Curt, I sent you a PM concerning the above post.
It appears as though the above quote from the sticky in the "Traditional Bows" is saying to edit your post title as "sold, traded, or delete".
What the Hel is TTT. sorry I see it all the time but can't figure out what it means.
TTT means "to the top"....something folks use to bring a thread to the top of a forum page....

all that matters is what guru is saying - mark yer ad titles to reflect that action has been taken and the item(s) up for sale or trade are no longer available. this prevents having to open up an ad only to find the item is no longer available. and sometimes that info doesn't appear until the last post in that ad!
please just edit yer ad TITLES if the item(s) are no longer available.

But Rob, Curt is saying above, "Don't edit the title to "END", "ENDED, "DONE", "FINISHED", "DELETE" etc....
I'm just saying that there is some confusion as to how the sticky says to edit your title as "SOLD", "DELETE", "TRADED", etc. but Curt is saying to edit it as "SOLD" only.
I'm just trying to help solve the problem by clarification by pointing out the cause of the confusion.

guru is correct. mostly it'll be "SOLD" "SPC" "TRADED" - this tells us all the item(s) are gone and we won't bother looking at your ad. for anything else, just leave your ad alone, don't change anything and if there are no posts within 30 days it'll get removed during a system "prune".

I don't have much time on here as I would like as I'm sure others have the same issue and it helps to know that something I'm may be interested in is gone already.
