I tried it once and got a lot of vibration but have heard other people using it.
That just doesn't make much sense at all.
I shoot an MAII built in 1992---and it came with the fast flight string. However, since I have always made my own strings from way before fast flight stuff was available, I began building endless loop strings from B-50 material. If it is slower than FF I don't notice it.
As for noise, based on my limited knowledge, it would seem to me that a B-50 would be LESS noisy than the faster materials. However, because of all the BW bashing threads that appear on this and other sites with regularity, the myth that BW's are "noisy" has not only become common but often accepted as "true" by many. My BW is as quiet as any bow I have ever been exposed to and has accounted for a few nice head of deer to boot.

Completely agree, shot my buddies PSA right next to my '67 1/2 bear and they sound very similar and are essentially the same "volume"
I have tried it on my PSA.It did change the dynamics of the bow setup a bit,and there was a bit of retuning, however I personally don't think I made that big of a difference in overall performance or "volume".
BW's do seem to have a unique sound to them I personally think the phenolic has a lot to do with that.Very nice bows in any case.My PSA is quickly becoming one of my favorites.
That's all I ever used on mine and never had a problem, with wool puffs they were whisper silent and with a heavy arrow shot excellent. I had a MA,SBS and PSA and B-50 never gave me any issues. Heck of a lot cheaper also. I also used the newer B-55 with good results.
I use FF skinny strings on PSA, PAX, and PCHX made by Andy Cooper in NM. Great strings!
B-50 vibrates more which generally translates to more noise.
Low stretch, high performance strings are generally more quiet, if you have the proper brace height.
Noise was never a problem with the BW MAB I used to have. I had a Fast-Flite string on it. It was a 60+ pound bow.

I disagree.......The FF that I had with my Widows was always louder and my brace was correct! :deadhorse: :deadhorse:

Such has not been the case with my experiences.
Notice I did say "generally". Sometimes there are exceptions.

I have been trying out Fastflight on a couple bows for about 6-8 months. I don't know if it is just me but I can't get fastflight near as quiet on any bow as I can b-50.
These are quality strings from highly rated makers. Maybe its a bow to bow thing? I also never thought stretch was a problem with b50 after a string was broke in.
I'm going to do some experimenting through the summer but come October quiet wins.

I've tried B-50,55 & FF on nearly every bow I've owned, that includes 3 Widows. With every bow I've owned B-50 is quieter.
That's why the padded & wrapped string loops are so common on FF strings, trying to get them as soft & quiet as B-50 already is without any needed help.
B-50 is also much easier on your bow when your limbs come to a stop it's not as abrupt as it is with FF. Some like the way one feels over the other, so it's all a matter of personal preference.
Theres not enough difference in speed for that to even be a factor & I agree with Rob W, stretch is not a problem with B-50 after break in. These are just my opinions & experience.

Like Rob W. I have never had any problems with B-50. This has been argued to death and I guess it's just a too each his own type thing....you like it or you don't. To Bow50 who started this post I say try it....you will love it or you will hate it, but only you can decide!!
I have shot just about every black widow model made none of them seemed any louder than any other bow to me.
It's a fairly cheap experiment. Opinions vary (obviously).
I don't currently own a BW, but I have owned them and made lots of strings for them. If I own another, I'm sure it will get a "FF" type string on it--never had a problem getting them quiet.
The reasons are the FF type materials are much more durable, last longer, and reduce hand shock. All materials have some stretch/creep here in the MS heat--endless or flemish. Dacron has the most of any. If you unstring your bow, a dacron string will contract and have to settle back in when re-strung.
Again though, whether you will like it or not boils down to your own opinion. Some prefer endless, some flemish. Recurve or longbow. One piece or take-down. Hill style or deflex/reflex. Etc. etc. etc.
I use B50 on all my widows. I have tried FF strings of different material and diameters. Personally I don't like the shock FF transfers to my hands and shoulders.
Everyone has their own opinion. Try both, and see for yourself.
I made a B-50 string for a friend that had a widow and it shot just fine. He put silencers on the string like you would with any widow. Nothing wrong with the practice of putting B-50 or B-55 on high end bows. (sort of like serving MD 20/20 with Filet mignon and lobster, right?)
